Default My vow to DC about Infinite Crisis

I've noticed that they have been bringing back characters in Limbo and such with the events of IC and a number have been bumped off. And now that it's been declared a sequel to CoIE I am making this vow.

If they bring back Dr.Light aka Kimiyo Hoshi, handle her horribly, have her be wearing her horrid yellow and white costume, and kill her off than I will forever loose faith in DC.

Call me obsessive, call me what you will but I swear it...she is too good of a character to be bumped off. Change her name yes that's better than killing her off.

Now I know most of you will be like "who" with this Dr.Light I'm talking about, and if you don't know than just look back about my other threads to find out about her cause I will NOT go into another rant about her. However I will say this...she is the character that did the most damage to the CoIE villain the Anti-Monitor, she was introduced and handled great in that series and was crucial in the reformation of the JLA...than she was put into Limbo than brought back and was treated horribly...she was treated in a way worse than death, she became extremely sterotypical. To bring her out of limbo now and than kill her off would be a huge cop out and a huge diservice. I was saddened by the death of Harbinger but I wasn't that big of a fan of her in CoIE.

Now I am hoping that DC is using JLU to promote awarness of her and maybe this is a sign of hope that she'll live through IC and maybe become more used in the DC Continuity. I mean I remember she was one of the top people that Message boards were demanded be voiced by Epilogue.

So that is all I have to say...again call me obsessed or whatever but if DC kills her off, a character who was crucial to CoIE and was through the gutter in such horrible ways, she deserves better than to be bumped off.

I agree. I like Kimyo, and I know Lady Quark and Harbinger have been killed since CoIE, and Pariah has been in limbo. Now with the news about Infinite being a sequel to CoIE, I wonder how it will all play out especially with Psycho Pirate who has only been used in Animal Man since CoIE besides a picture in Identity Crisis and other places. Now Pirate is on the cover of JSA Classified #4 and in the Infinite Previews.

I say, kill away. Any character, as long as it's a well-written death, is fine with me. Even my favorites, for all I care. I loved Beetle and Sue, and have no problem with their deaths. Spoiler, however...

So basically, if she's handled in the same way she always was and wears her costume, you will be pissed? I'm having a hard time trying to pinpoint this "awesome" character you will be up in arms over if she gets killed. She was never anything special and always seemed like a crappy backup character to me.

In any case, if one character death will cause you to "lose faith" in an industry with constantly rotating talent (and, given the recent trend of reviving people in DC these days) and rotating hero rosters, then you're probably just an idiot.

No I mean if she is 1) killed off in one panel and not even mentioned, you just have ot see her to know...that would be the worst. 2) if she is a whiner and is killed off to easily...that would be the worst.

but 3) if she puts up a great fight...that would be fine 4) if people recognize her fall...that'd be great

but the truth is, for a character who blasted the Anti-Monitor, DC's most powerful villain, into a planetoid...and if she's bumped off and no one cares at all than I'd be saddened.

I'd loose faith cause she was a great potential character, than she's put in limbo...she's brought back and thrown into the gutter...and back into limbo...and if she's brought back and killed off...well that's just the last straw.

Dude, personal attacks like that are just uncalled for. They're comics. One person's Chuck Austen is another's Geoff Johns.

Wow that ain't cool.

But I couldn't agree with Staredcraft more. She has alot of potential and it's a shame no one is using her. I hope she has a nice role in Crisis doing something important.

Indigi, you're still pretty new to the boards so please be respectful to other board members. Dissagreeing with others if fine, name calling however is not allowed.

Sorry to get off topic here, but is Harbinger really dead? I mean, one of her powers is the ability to plit off into different version of herself. I figured it was just one of her asspects who died while the original is off preping for this new crisis. After all, her death has happened within the last year, so I just assumed it was mis-direction as part of the master plan.

Oh, and as for Doctor Light II - there has to be a throw down between her and Arthur Light. It seems inevitable. The questrion is, can she beat him at his own game? I would say yes, if only because of the afore-mentioned hurting she gave to the Anti-Monitor.

I had the same thoughts of Harbinger. The only thing is she hadn't used that ability in WW or Superman/Batman before her "death". I think that would open the door for her return, the only question would remain why die like that and what purpose did it serve? The only thing I can think of is if the Monitor came back and she knew it and went back to his side for Infinite Crisis (longshot possibility though).

I can totally sympathize with stuff like this.

Then again with the reputation that precedes me I can't imagine why anyone would guess that .

That's the problem these days: most comic deaths are anything but well-written.

And it's gotten to the point where even the most well-written deaths tend to be lumped in with their much-more-common horrid breathren.

If comics ever hope to make deaths intriguing again they have to be a lot less common & a lot more special.

Death's becoming run of the mill. It's getting to the point where we expect it far too much.

If comics companies want to really surprise us in the death dept. they have their work cut out for them .

i disagree with all you're saying, it is too easy to kill off a character then revamp them. who would think that the most fun character in dov is detective monkey ? that is the tricky part , turning what is a lame character and revitalising them.

Kill 'em .. bring 'em back .. its all fiction .. when we forget that we forget that this is SUPPOSED to be escapist by nature.

If folks demand death be final .. then I demand every characters powers be firmly cemented in actual science and not this psuedo-science babble that laughs in the face of little details like natural laws and physics .. and so help me if I DO NOT GET THIS .. I'll ... um .. do something so BIG .. and I'll post regularly about it ... ok

oh and who says Detective Chimp was lame before this story .. let see some facts boyo
