Default Geoff- a request

Ok. I, like all Wally fans, are nervous right now.

I'm gonna go ahead and speak for all of us here.

I loved your run on Flash, from Iron Heights, to Wonderland, to Rogue War.

I've loved everything you've done with GL since Rebirth and think Kyle got off ok and is being handled fairly well in th GL universe since Hal has come back.

I think you have a lot of love for Wally having written him for so long. I mean, how can you not? I trust you to make The Flash franchise great and I trust you with Wally, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm still nervous he's going to slip into the background.

Can you just give us one sentence? Just give us an official "Don't worry. Wally's going to be fine" and I'll stop worrying. [okay, I guess that was two]

I think it would do all Wally fans some good to hear from the horse's mouth that everything's going to be ok for our favorite character.

Ian,

I grew up on Wally West. I wrote Wally West for years. I love Wally West and his entire family. He will continue to be a vital part of the Flash universe, and that's just what I'm hoping to do - build a Flash universe. A pillar in the DCU very much like Green Lantern, but also very different.

In other words: Wally's not only going to be fine, he's going to kick ass.

From one fan to another,

Geoff

Well, crap (crumples up proposal lovingly written and perfected over the last 4 months...).

All-Flash Corps
Revealed in the pages of Rebirth, the Speed Force has made its true nature known. What characters embody the Spectrum of Speed? What of the prophecy that Abra Kadabra has brought back from the future? When you're running for your life, all that matters is speed.

White Flash: Barry Allen, Life for speedsters

Infrared Flash: John Fox, embodiment of Time Travel
Red Flash: Wally West, embodiment of Velocity
Orange Flash: Bart Allen, embodiment of Vibration
Yellow Flash: Zolomon Hunter, embodiment of Time Dilation
Green Flash: Iris West, embodiment of Acceleration
Blue Flash: Max Mercury, embodiment of Spacetime
Indigo Flash: Jay Garrick, embodiment of Endurance
Violet Flash: Jenni Ognats, embodiment of Dimensional Travel
Ultraviolet Flash: Jai West, embodiment of Metabolism

Black Flash: Eobard Thawne, Death for speedsters

All tongue in cheek, of course. I love what you've done with Green Lantern. I can't wait to see what you do with Flash. And I hope someday soon we'll get to see what you get to do with the Legion on a regular monthly basis.

Hell yeah.

That's pretty much sums it up: Hell yeah.

I think we can all relax, now, Wally fans. At least, I'm going to.

Thanks, Geoff.

See, it seems people have been overreacted a tad. If there's one thing people should do, especially here, is give Geoff the benefit of the doubt. At least until a story is actually done being told. It's more than obvious he truly loves the characters and will treat them well. You may not agree with his directions all the time, but I don't know one writer where I have loved or agreed with every single thing they've done.

Plus it's comics. Things are cyclical. Unless you're name is Batman or Superman a character is going to change, get replaced for some time or maybe lose a book for awhile. And then they'll come back. Or they might have to endure bad runs for awhile, but....it'll get better or to you're liking again.

Haha, no. It doesn't work that way. Now that Geoff has thrown them a bone, things are only going to get worse. They'll demand more and more, their bitterness gradually coming to a head, until the mods finally have to step in and tell everyone they're not allowed to talk about it anymore.

The Green Lantern forums went through the same thing a few years ago. It's all a rerun to me.

I must say I'm a bit relieved right now. Thanks Geoff.
If really the new Flash ongoing can have Barry in the lead but still have a decent amount of space dedicated to other flashes, especially Wally... I'll be happy.

Can someone pin this quote/topic to the top of the Flash forum so that we can make sure all the Wally fans see this?

When it's great things as opposed to the promise of great things, then I'll be reassured. Sorry to be the wet blanket, but the past five years have given me good reason to be skepical.

See, but- to me.... no creator has ever really addressed the fans directly like that, IMO. Yes, creators are always saying it's going to be great, but in a different way. Mark Waid didn't promise Wally fans that he would restore him back to the level he was, IIRC. I mean- actually PROMISE it. I've never really experienced that. Morrison didn't promise Final Crisis was going to be as great as COIE. I'm not saying Geoff is promising this is going to be the greatest Flash run ever and every speedster is getting plenty of face time, but he is specifically addressing it.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I just put more weight into his statements because I think HE put more weight in his statement. I think he knew exactly what I meant.
