I quit reading comics about 6 months ago. What happened in Rebirth?

Um...alot.

The best advice I can give ya is to read this months article in Wizard with the page by page commentary, and to see the related topic here on the message boards for links to even more commentary that wasn't in the mag. Between the two, it will get ya up to speed in about an hour's time.

Hal and The Spectre split.

Guy's a GL again.

Hal's a GL again.

Kilowog is a GL again.

The Guardians are old again.

Parallax is an ancient parasite who feeds on fear. The Guardians sealed him the Central Power Battery billions of years ago, causing the yellow weakness because yellow is the color of fear.

When Sinestro entered the Central Power Battery in GLC #223, he awoke Parallax and used him to infect Hal, little by little. The grey hair on Hal was the mark of Parallax.

The destruction of Coast City allowed Parallax to fully take hold of Hal. Parallax forced Hal to release Parallax from his prison by whatever means necessary, including destroying the Corps.

There was a constant internal struggle. Hal shone through in times where he was more like Hal in Final Knight and the end of Parallax View and Parallax was in control in times like Zero Hour.

Hal was fused to The Spectre specifically to rid Hal of Parallax. When The Spectre succeeded, he split off from Hal. Hal then rejoined his body and took back his ring.

Batman is pissed off that Hal is back.

Hal one-punch-KOed Batman just like Batman did to Guy in the old Giffen JLA.

The Vuldarian Warrior powers of Guy are now dormant.

Warriors Bar was destroyed.

Most of Hal's Spectre series was illusions cast by Parallax to divert Hal and The Spectre from defeating him.

Hal doesn't remember much of his days as Spectre.

Carol is still married to Gil Johns however.

Sinestro was defeated by Hal and sent to Qward.

Guy and Kyle are in space restoring the Corps. Kyle is currently involved in The Rann/Thanagar War and Guy is assisting the Giffen JLA in finding Blue Beetle's killer.

Hal and John are now the Green Lanterns of Sector 2814. Hal and John are currently investigating and fighting The Manhunters in GL. Hal is also involved with the JLA right now, dealing with the Secret Society of Super Villains. Hal is not however a member. He was asked to be there by Wally as one of the 7 who mind-wiped Batman. John is the GL of the JLA. Hal is also investigating the theft of a TON of Kryptonite.

Black Hand is in the process of being revamped. Hal as The Spectre, being controlled by Parallax, turned Black Hand's hand into black coal.

The Shark is lurking in the waters next to Coast City.

Hector Hammond is rambling on to himself from his prison cell.

Fatality is involved with Lex Luthor's Injustice Society.

Coast City was restored by The Spectre, controlled by Parallax, to pacify Hal so he didn't fight Parallax.

People are afraid to move to Coast City because of the previous attack so only about a thousand people live in the city, including Hal.

The government has found Abin Sur's old spaceship and have rebuilt it.

Hal is trying to rejoin the Air Force as a test pilot but is having trouble because of the Hardy incident from Emerald Knights and his flying a plane without clearance, then punching a superior officer, in an attempt to get discharged so he could go to his dying mother and get out of the government. He was still in shock from being in a war and wanted out.

Oh yeah. General Stone, Shane Sellers, and Jillian Pearlman have all been added to Hal's supporting cast. Also, there are going to be 7200 GLs now, two for every planet. So far, the confirmed new GLC members besides Hal, Kyle, John, Guy, and Kilowog are Vath and Raptor Kol (Rann and Thanagar GLs), Mogo (Who was revealed to be very much alive in a late Winick run Kyle issue), and Salakk (GL/Aliens is out of continuity now)

Jeff, go get the series. It will be worth it. Plus, throw in the Flash: Rogue Wars. That is some awesome reading you've been missing.
