Sinestro's surname

We know that the people of Korugar did have surnames (just look at Katma Tui), but Sinestro has never been given one (at least not to my knowledge). Maybe if we knew his sister, the Witch Queen's, real name. Of course, maybe they're just orphans, with no other family.

There are some accounts of Sinestro having a father who's a lowlife drug dealer. Maybe that's why Sinestro loves law and order so much. It's only natural for kids to rebel.

Point of order: Sinestro's father was operating strictly within the law, running his Null Ray Emporium And Bong Shop outside city limits. It may be that Sinestro didn't respect what his father did for a living, but the father's shortcomings didn't include flouting the law.

I'm still holding out for "Sinestro" being a nickname or epithet; it could be that "sinestro" means "totally awesome order dude" in Korugarian, or it could be that "sinestro" is a loose translation of something like "left-handed" or "elite". ("Aristo", like in "aristocrat", is Greek for "left-handed", and is generally a positive. But in Latin, the term for "left-handed" is "sinister", with no shortage of negative connotations.)

I don't know. I like to think Sinestro is more of a title or given name. At first to protect his secret identity because of family and friends. And later to protect them from reprisal of the the planet.
Or maybe his name is really Sennis'Thro and the dumb earthmen are just saying Sinester-O because
A) They don't know any better or
B) He's a bad guy, he's sinister

Oh and has anyone noticed Sinestro is the only Korugarian with an abnormally large head? Maybe that's why he's bad, too many people picked on him in school growing up.
