Seems to be something in the air as of late. I've gotten over 50 emails in that last two weeks all askin' the same thing...."Do I think DC has kept any of the character and personality that I developed foor Guy Gardner in my two run on the book."
It apprears that some folks aren't happy with the way that the personality transformation of Guy Gardner: Warrior to Guy Gardner: Green Lantern has been. They aren't talkin' about his powers from Morphin weapons to the green ring. They are askin' about his character. Reader are wantin' to know why Guy hasn't explained what happened to his Warrior powers and what his thoughts on his time as Warrior were like. They are askin' me where most of his supporting cast are and why they haven't been mentioned. Some have, Lady Blackhawk is with Birds Of Prey, Wildcat is with JSA. They are mainly askin' about Buck Wargo and The Monster Hunters, Lead from the Metal Men, Arisia, and the list goes on. They wanna know about Warrior's. Theywanna know about "Joe Gardner"...Guy's clone. I've had to tell em'....I don't know. Since I'm not writin' the book or the character anymore I am out of the loop. I would have to figure that at some point they will address those questions, but there hasn't been enough time yet. I'm layin' odds that at some point DC is gonna do a Guy Gardner mini-series or one on the GL Corps. and explain all that then. I could be wrong. I just don't know. I'm layin' odds that they do have some sorta plan. I can't see em' goin' for the "If we don't mention it, it'll go away or they will forget." Plan. That ain't DC's way. I have heard throught he rumor mill and gossip grapevine that someone at DC wants to talk to me about a new person takin' on the name of Warrior without the morphin' powers. Of course, that's just a rumor. No one from DC has called me on it. I'm sure theyu have plans for Guy and his back story. I'll be interested in readin' it just like everyone else. I hope it'll be fun and entertaining. My only wish is that if there are plans for Buck Wargo and The Monster Hunters....that they leave that to me. I created em'....I'd like to see me behind the wheel of that four wheel drive vehicle. There ya go, amigos. Keep your ears open. Your pal, Beau The Flying Fist Ranch |

I think in the beginning of Rebirth Guy's personality was the same, when he was talking to John and even Hal at the ballgame. The problem I had was after he became a GL again he seemed to be relapsing a little into the old obnoxious self. The way he reacted to Hal hitting Bats, and him talking about the ring again. It seemed like he regressed a little.
Even though the Warrior powers magically dissapeared he should still have the personality you gave him Beau, as the hard nosed no nonsense Guy. Hopefully this is what they are going to do with him...but ya never know. |

If anyone's expecting those kind of answers at this point then they have unrealistic expectations and don't realize the purpose of Rebirth. Rebirth wasn't to give answers (except in the case of Hal Jordan), it's purpose was to set up the new status quo. If answers don't come within the next year or so, then start to complain. Anything prior to that is just pure whining that the editors won't listen to because it's clear that you don't grasp what you're talking about and have expectations that DC can not possibly fulfill. Why would DC listen to anyone like that? At least wait until there is a story that centers on Guy first.
I dislike the lose of Guy Gardner as Warrior as much as anyone else and would hate it even more if his characterization was lost as well, but I also realize that the time for answers to Guy's situation has not come yet. |

Brian is right. We're all just gonna have to wait and see what DC unfolds for us here in the next year. Should be interesting and I hope even more new readers jump on board through the buzz and word of mouth.
Start gettin' in line! Beau The Flying Fist Ranch |

Have you been reading JLA: Classified, Beau?
They're playing Guy with a little bit of everything in there (except his lovey-dovey phase, which was funny, but thankfully shortlived). He's smart and mature, still brash as hell, but he's playing his smarts close to his vest. And there's something odd going on with his yellow ring (he's refered to it as "We"). It's all out-of-continuity fun, and I'm glad DC still willing to give these now anachronistic interpretations of those characters a place. |

I do hope they get into the status of Guy's Vuldarian DNA/powers at some point in the near future. Even if they are gone forever [even though forever doesn't mean much in comic books] a little closure on the matter would be nice. Unfortunately I don't have faith in Didio. The powers are probably dead and buried in his mind.
I would love to see an update on the whereabouts of Buck and the gang and Veronna [wouldn't she have been able to help Guy fight off the Parallax influenece because of their mind link?] I don't think I would read about someone else with the Warrior powers. Too me Guy IS Warrior. Not some Johnny come lately Didio and DC think they could plug into the role [Unless Guy's ancestor Cardone came back to life and the book is about him. |

Didn't Guy's profile in the Gl SF&O say the powers were dormant or something? I can't check cause I just put my comics in storage. But that'd be something at least. "Dormant" doesn't mean "gone". Anyone have the SF&O laying around that can check?

BTW. There is a topic on the GL board about the possiblity of a Guy book and if it came to be who should write it. Beau is the man as always. Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign. |
