Default Red Menace #1!! Spoilers

So who else picked this up? I thought it was very solid. I think Bilson, DeMeo, and Brody's dialogue here is very well suited for the certain time period, imo.

I really think that Eagle made a stupid decision unmasking himself to the HUAC. It seems like he just rushed into this decision without thinking about it. I'm also thinking the Grey Falcon survives and ends up teaming up with Eagle.

Ordway's art is just beautiful here. I loved it.

One thing though, anyone else think the cover was kinda plain? I was hoping for something a bit more eye catching...

there was an interesting interview on the Wordballoon podcast with Bilson & Demeo on this series. Although once they stop talking about Red Menace the interview turns into Bilson & DeMeo defending themselves for 20 minutes in regard to everything Bart Allen and The Flash.....

Would love to hear some more about this book, it sounded like they originally wanted this to be in the mainstream DCU, any similarities to what has ended up in the Red Menace?

Loved this! Way better than their FLASH, and the Ordway art is great...really makes the book work, I think.

Ordway is a master. This might be some of his best work too. The dialogue is great, the story is great. The great is great. A+ material.
Buy this.. NOW!

On a side note, was it just me or did "Blur" look a heck of a lot like Jay Garrick? Nice easter egg for Flash fans!

Danny, Paul, Adam, Jerry, and the rest of the team, thanks for an original comic that was fun from cover to last page. I look forward to the rest of this story.

There's a Flash section here? Where is it? ;-)

Quoted for truth. +1!

Nah, I thought it was a pretty good issue. Did NOT see the unmasking coming, LET ALONE in the first issue. Good times. Great artwork by Ordway and the writing was pretty sweet too.

I wasn't going to pick up the book at first but as I flipped through it at the shop and saw the gray falcon using some TK, I knew I had to pick it up. Glad I did! Great first issue, I loved it a lot. And the artwork was beautiful!

I bought the first issue, and I liked it.

However, after finding out in an ad that the series is only a mini, I'm probably going to wait for a trade to finish reading it.

And how could the artwork be anything but beautiful with Jerry Ordway doing the drawing?

I know all the praise right now is going to Ordway, and heck, he earned it, but the writing team knocked this issue out of the park. I'm not reading the Flash, but I was worried going into this book from what I had heard. These guys can write. Same with Adam Brody, he's got some talent. So much stuff in one issue. I'm not usually a fan of the big, iconic, patriotic heroes, but Steve Tremaine/the Eagle won me over. Soldier, father, and he put himself on the line to help his friends. I'm also guessing that from the gun at his side, he's a bit rougher then Superman...

Still, the new FBI agents, the evils of a few rounds with war buddies, and a wannabe hero, all under the blanket of the Red Scare has won me over.

Superman Returns was a great film. DO NOT REBOOT!

Excellent first issue! The art, as noted repeatedly, was gorgeous, and the story quickly moves into unexpected territory. Not superheroes-by-numbers, by any stretch. VERY cool stuff.

I liked it enough to get the next issue. Ordway is an incredible storyteller. We need more of that and less of those pinups that are being passed off as "layouts"
