OMAC #5 (Spoilers)

The OMAC shoots and kills Vienna's injured friend. Pete and Vienna start to run while the OMAC fights with the authorities. When Pete learns Vienna didn't kill Mike, he aims his gun at her, but the OMAC shoots and kills him first. OMAC then grabs Vienna and takes her to the Channel Islands. He tries his best to tell her that he's Mike, but she misunderstands him.

After Vienna falls into the ocean, the OMAC transforms into Mike, who shows that he's beginning to learn how to use powers in his human form; he saves her from a shark.

Vienna is horrified when she realizes Mike is the OMAC and yells at him for killing her friend. Mike reveals that as the OMAC he could see that Vienna's friend was going to die anyway, and so her death was a mercy killing.

Mike uses his abilities to kill a boar on the island, and shortly thereafter they wind up in bed together. After they have sex they both admit it was their first time. We then learn from Brother Eye that the OMAC Nanovirus passed from Mike to Vienna when they had sex.

I enjoyed this issue. Jones writing tends to be a mixed bag for me. The overall story is enjoyable, but his dialogue can be really hokey. I like the fact that we're seeing Mike learning how to use his abilities in human form. I'm not sure if I really like how the book ended, though. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I do have to say that I missed Renato's artwork.

Actually, according to Pete, Vienna's "boss", she used to be a hooker. Vienna states she has been celibate for a time, so it was LIKE her first time... It was actually Mike's first time.

I agree about Jones' dialogue. A bit...can't find a better word than hokey, heh.

But I do like the overall story. Anyone else find it funny that Vienna lied about her age? She said 26, but the OMAC said 27.

And she slept with a 17 yr old? That seemed a bit rushed to me.

Here's a question, Brother Eye JUST rebuilt itself, right? How was he not detected by NASA or any other government? He built a cloaking device with the spare parts he found? I don't buy that...

Anyway, probably the worst issue of the bunch, but still not bad. Liking the whole story so far.

And yeah, while I liked the art here, I miss Renato. He's just soooo good.
