this is the second or third time I've seen the continuum report it as cancelled. I'll have to wait untill I see the solicits for myself before I pass judgement

I hate to say it, but I think it's only a matter of time. I hope like hell it isn't, though. Definitely my favorite title. I lost N&C on New X-Men last year, I hope DC doesn't make me lose Manhunter this year.

The why is because the sales aren't nowhere near where they should be. I don't keep up with the exact numbers, but I believe it's around 15-18000 copies are being sold. Less than 20000 is usually bad news. 'Tis a shame, because Manhunter deserves to be selling SO much better than it is. It should be selling twice the number of books it is. I just don't get why it's not getting the sales, because it fricking rocks.

One of the more fun parts of being a long-term comics fan is the amount of goodbyes you have to say to good series

But if indeed this series is approaching death's door, then I would have absolutely no regrets that I jumped on with 18

When I get into a series I never know how long it'll stick around (I'm notorious for not showing much interest in comics with Bats, Supes and/or X in their titles).

But one thing I've learned is that often when a series gets beyond a certain point in its life span, it can start getting crappy even if sales indicate otherwise.

So I get more joy out of sending short-lived but good quality series off with a smile than dealing with a series that is definitely past its prime. With the latter I end up having to decide if I want to hang on to a series I once loved but am not enjoying right now or if I would rather give up hope and let it go. Neither choice is an easy one to make

I really hope the series is NOT cancelled. Marc has hit it out of the ballpark with each issue. There are just too much intrigue and action going on right now with Kate and the super supportive cast for the book. I have to say, Manhunter has the best supporting cast since the early eighties Iron Man books.

We just have to keep buying issues and telling others how great the book is ..if Spider-girl can last 100 issues with all the near cancellations why not Manhunter.

One thing in Kate's favor....

She does appear in the IC7 Heroic 2Pg spread at the end. So, she's going to get a push....

I think we need to make this book DC's Spider-Girl. Make it the little book that could.

Much as I know that I've been buying too many titles lately (and the price increase was another thing that makes me want to drop some books), I would REALLY hate to see this book go. It's definitely one of the ones that's made the cut time and again.

The why is because the sales aren't anywhere near where they should be.

And yes, that would be unfortunate if this book ends.

i can neither confirm nor deny anything, folks, but, if you wanna help save the book: WRITE DC AND DEMAND THEY CONTINUE IT (but in a nice way, of course!)

GET YOUR RETAILER TO CARRY IT!

TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE IT!

TELL 'EM ABOUT THE "BUY BACK" GUARANTEE!

and pray a little, too.

i have dozens of stories planned for kate, but the power to let me tell them lies in your hands. DC can't be expected to publish a money-losing book, so unless the sales go up (and stay there), well,.......

There's a letter writing campaign starting up over at Newsarama. It can't hurt.

I think DC could have taken more interest the book alot better than what they did. Kate should have had more guest appearances in other titles, and probably even playing the overplayed "Batman card" would've helped sales (I know seeing Bloodhound in FIRESTORM got me interested in the title, even though it was cancelled shortly after). Mike Carlin really went all out to promote POWER OF SHAZAM to keep that running as long as it did, I wish Didio did the same for MANHUNTER.

In a way as old time DC fans, we kinda lose out in the long run as well. Marc catered to all our fanboy whims by including Mark Shaw, Chase, Mr. Bones, Obsidian, and even had other JSA ties with the golden age Atom and it still didn't generate the sales DC wanted. So, in turn we might see less nostalgiac titles that so richly dig deep in the DCU past that Marc so generously provided us with MANHUNTER.

I sincrely hope that is not the case.

don't just do that. you really want to send a message with your letters send them handwritten very legibly and carefully.

handwsritten letters are far more respectable and really show them just how much we care about the book. so let's get them as many handwritten letters as humanly possible. let them know that we will do things to save the book.

let's build an army and save the one truly great book
