Default Men In Black 3

From Latino Review: Sony ShoWest Update! Men In Black 3? Plus New Footage of District 9 From Peter Jackson And More!

I guess the big news from the Sony showing at ShoWest has to be the announcement of a new Men in Black currently in development along with the new Ghostbusters movie.

Before showing us their upcoming 2009 slate, they said Men in Black and Ghostbusters are in development. Who knew they were doing a new Men in Black?? Nobody, but now we all know. I can only assume the original cast will return.

The first was good popcorn movie fun. The 2nd in my opinion suffered from sequalitis. It wasn't the worst movie, but could have been so much better. There's no reason with this concept and these stars that you can't make a great popcorn summer movie. So here's to hoping a 3rd one rocks.

The second movie suffered not because it was a sequel, but because it was, for all intents and purposes, the first film with the roles of J and K reversed.

Hopefully they'll find a different plot for the third film.

From Variety:
Columbia wants more 'Men in Black' - Cohen to pen third installment in franchise
In a long-anticipated move, Columbia Pictures is pushing forward with a third installment in the "Men in Black" franchise.

Studio has tapped "Tropic Thunder" scribe Etan Cohen to pen "Men in Black 3." There are no deals in place for the franchise's stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, though it's unlikely that Col would greenlight the project without the duo's involvement.

Col made a similar move in reviving another lucrative franchise when it began work last year on a new "Ghostbusters." At the time, the studio tapped a hot pair of scribes in Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to bring a modern twist to the supernatural comedy. With the exception of mega-property "Spider-Man," Columbia has few franchises in its vault to draw upon. The Bond franchise has reverted back to MGM.

"Ghostbusters" was Columbia's highest-grossing film ever until it was beaten by "Men in Black" and then eventually "Spider-Man."

Studio remained tight-lipped about the direction of the third "MIB" installment.

Cohen has a number of high-profile projects in development around town, including a Sherlock Holmes project with Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell at Col.

MIB 2- Any film that has a 9000 year old Rip Torn doing really bad wire work is always gonna suck.

Loved the first two movies, and if they can get BOTH Smith and Jones back, then yeah, I'll go see it.
That said, I didn't think Tropic Thunder was at all funny, so I'm hesitant about the screen-writer attached to it.

I agree, the cartoon was surprisingly good. If it didn't come out at a time when Saturday morning cartoons were being killed off, I think it had the chance to have a decent run.

I'd love to see Simon Pegg in MIB3 (surely aliens aren't only a problem in North America). And of course, have David Cross come back for yet another cameo.
