Default Titans Hunt

Ok, So I did not have great expectations, but the first issue turned out better than what I expected. I am certainly hoping the missing Titan is Wally.

Did everyone get the clue about the whirlpool?

I didn't get the clue about the two kids playing in the office. What was that about?

I just bought the issue today but did not read it yet. I am wondering if we are going to see any reference to Flamebird? In either Batwoman #0 or #1 it was referenced that Flamebird was a Titan or worked with the Titans. I know that it was edited out for the hardcover or trade collection but it would be nice to see her included.

I liked the issue. Not sure what the clues mean, but enjoyed the issue.

I was THRILLED with issue #1 for several reasons...

while a lot of it was "first issue set up", what it hinted at could mean restoring the legacy of the Teen Titans, which is the most ruined franchise of the nu52 IMO.

I suspect where this is going is not these characters having false memories of a different Earth (as some have guessed on the interwebz), but instead the curtain being raised on memories they were made to forget.
I am hoping that's the case.

I was also impressed with the care that went into respecting the characters histories, as much as possible within the constraints of the nu52 histories. Mal's love of music and Karen at his side...the caveman history of Gnaark, the mysteriousness of Lillith.

I really WANT these characters to have been friends and teammates in the past.

The charm shown in issue #1 represented everything that has been painfully missing from the nu52 Teen Titans book.

I may be reading too much into where this is all going, but I'm hoping for the moment that there will be a nice payoff at the end that resets the status quo for the Titans.

Upon reading the issue, it seemed quite clear to me that they had their minds wiped and they were all a Titans team in the past. Perhaps wishful thinking, but that's what everything pointed towards.

It certainly would benefit the current DCU for that to be the case. The original Tern Titans/New Tern Titans are sorely missed.

You and me both.

I'm trying to keep my expectations down so I don't create artificial disappointment in myself.

For what it's worth, Geoff Johns responded to someone on Twitter asking for Titans history to be restored with "Read TITANS HUNT." So, I think we're all on the right track.

I am curious about what all history will be restored. However the fact that it is going to be restored is great news.

I doubt they're restoring pre-Flashpoint NTT continuity, but I assume they're creating a New 52 version, which is as good as we can hope.

I'm sure a lot of this has to do with TNT green lighting a "Titans" show, which is fine by me.

It seems like they're possibly restoring as much history as is possible, within what fits with the nu52. What won't work is Wally as a member, since nuWally just made the scene and hasn't gotten his powers yet. Whether the "New Teen Titans" stuff with Kory, Raven, and Vic will be restored remains to be seen since they don't appear to be players in the mini. BUT it's also a 12 issue series, so there is room for a lot to still be revealed.

Even if 60-80% of the history is back in play, I'd still be thrilled.
It makes me sad to think the very first Titans team would have been the current incarnation in the nu52.

Right. I just think they're retconning in the New Teen Titans into current continuity. Which is a big plus to me. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out and if any other NTTers work back in.

Haven't there been references to pass encounters in RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS?

I think somehow Wally will be back. The key was the whirlpool. Anyone get that reference?

You need to look waaaaay back. To their very first adventure. This is why I think...somehow...someway..we will see Wally. I think Lilith was trying to spark this memory in Dick.
