Default it's time: Power Girl to Power WOMAN

Ok, I know this topic comes up a lot and there's some spirited debate, but I have to bring it up: it's time for Power Girl to change her name to Power Woman. After the events of Infinite Crisis and Kara learning her true origin as the cousin of Earth-2 Superman, Earth-2 Superman's death, her clear adulthood and a need to forge her own identity it all makes sense for her to move forward with changing her name. If Dick Grayson can go from Robin to Nightwing, Roy Harper can go from Speedy to Arsenal, Donna Troy can change her name every decade, Albert Rothstein can change his name from Nuklon to Atom Smasher, and in the competition the Invisible Girl could change her name to the Invisible Woman, it's time!

I know there may be lots of marketing issues and trademarks, but it's just getting ridiculous seeing artists draw Kara as a full woman and refer to her as "girl".

let the rumbling begin!

but the same thing could be said for "Wonder Woman" when she was first introduced.

Imo PG should move out of the "Girl" shell...she's...errrrr...developed enough!

Ummm. Based on the feminist attitude introduced with PG in the 70s I can see her not going with the term "Woman" which is seen by some as a derivitive of "Man" and sticking with girl instead...I know a few who prefer it for that reason...

I think most women don't see the term Girl as derogatory these days. I've known senior citizens who've preferred being referred to as "girl".

And "Power Woman" just sucks as a name, anyways. If you aren't going to call her Power Girl, then come up with something completely new for her.

Bah I say, bah!

Karen has gotten to the point where she is happy with herself. It's not even the name that matters (unlike Supergirl), it's about the person.

If she has fun being Power Girl, then she should stay as PeeGee.

It beats the hell out of Nightwing.

I say we call her Power Person In Spandex That Does Alot of Good because we don't want to come off sexist or offend anyone at all.

What would the change from Girl to Woman symbolize? Dic Grayson was no longer Robin and took the name Nightwing to move out of the shadows of Batman and to honor the two men who influenced his costumed life, Batman and Superman. Roy Harper, again started out as a sidekick and wanted to leave Green Arrow's shadow, so he becae Arsenal, which also reflects his mastery of other weapons. Donna's name changes have also been because of the changes in who she was.

Power Girl chose her name back when she knew her identity originally anyway. But if you want to use her just finding out who she is then, why not change it to Superwoman? This way she can let the world know she is Superman's cousin, and honor Kal-L's memory?

I say leave it stay Power Girl, unless Karen has a daughter who can take up the name.
