Default Human Target: Fox Series

Here's some previews for the new fall series Human Target based on the DCU character Christopher Chance (who crossed over to Vertigo in recent years)--

Looks really fun! I'm glad to see Mark Valley on tv again...Keen Eddie was an awesome show that was a few years ahead of its time. Even though this is on Fox (notorious for cancelling everything), I'm looking forward to watching this!

I dunno... he's no Rick Springfield...

Anyhoo, while the cast all around is great (Chi McBride!), and the trailer looks cool, as a big fan of Peter Milligan's take on the character, I'm kinda disappointed that a) the psychological themes are most likely going to be sacrificed for 'splosions and b) Chance won't actually be assuming the identities of the people who hire him.

But that's just the whiny fanboy in me. I'll at least give the show a chance.

No pun intended.

I wonder if the Rick Springfield Human Target series will be out on DVD, then?

It looks really good to me, I can't wait for this show. It is the one I am the most excited for.

Mark Valley and Chi McBride are awesome so that is great.

Jackie Earle Haley I haven't seen much of but he looks good too.

I fondly recall that one and how much I enjoyed it so if they put it out on DVD I'll get it asap

IMHO Human Target is one of the coolest character concepts in comics

Also what would be cool...DC puts all the HUMAN TARGET stories (the back-ups in Action Comics, Detective Comics, Brave and the Bold, and the HT One-Shot Special) in trade.

I loved Milligan's series.

Obviously we won't know anything about the characterization until the show actually airs (barring any detailed interviews). That said, the teaser is built to get people's (i.e. the average public) attention right away. If the numbers aren't there, the series will be dead in under 6 episodes. The psychological aspect can definitely be woven in over the course of a season. You wouldn't want to see it happen immediately, but over time.

As for the assumption of identities, given a television budget, I'm sure there's only so far they can go using prosthetics, not to mention the suspension of disbelief involved with what the comic character actually does.

I hope this series debuts well.

Rick Springfield is still acting on General Hospital so who knows...? It would be fun for the show to cast him as a guest-star.

I think the show looks cool. I'm hoping Vertigo will relaunch the book aroung the show's start? (But maybe they'll wait to see how it does in the ratings first?)

I heard a pretty good review from the Totally Rad show guys. To sum it up: some of the best TV fights ever, and Jackie Earle Haley rocks, but it's very TV formulaic.

Superman Returns was a great film. DO NOT REBOOT!

Watched it tonight, it was quite good!
Basically, imagine that you can hire Batman to protect you. But he's not all Batman, he's at least 1/3 James Bond, and maybe 10% Mal Reynolds... Either way, it was a great first episode, I don't expect that much fighting every episode, but it was clever, and I liked the mystery aspect.

I really liked it as well. This means it will probably be canceled in four episodes....

No, I'm pretty sure that Joss Wheadon had nothing to do with this series, so Fox will give it at least 6 episodes before killing it
