Oh **** yeah!

Josh Brolin is Jonah Hex?

Well, this part scares me to no end:
The movie, I'm told, is going to be some kind of sci-fi western with CG up the wazoo.

Look, it's a western. Period. No sci-fi.

Unless they're doing that freakin' horrible "Hex" concept that nearly ruined the character. Then it ain't Jonah.

I don't know, the article sounded confident but it could be just a load of bollocks*.

I'm hoping for the best. It would be so cool to have a Jonah Hex movie franchise.

The initial press release about the film was that it was going to be a western-horror film (not unlike the Lansdale-Truman Vertigo series)

The site that says a "sci-fi" film also said that Hex "in the film is tracking down a voodoo practitioner", which isn't terribly science-fictiony and a bit more Lansdale-Truman (and not that far away from the more horror veined Weird Western Tales like frequent current Jonah Hex guest star, Lazarus Lane/El Diablo).

So basically I'm keeping an open mind about this.

No worries about that, Hex will be filmed in 2009 and released 2010. But just what they will be filming has been a severe source of rumors and speculation.

It's amazing how many people love the idea enough that they're jumping on every single thing about this film, confirmed or not. Much irrational exuberance going on in the Hollywood blogs.

I hear you. Done plenty of speculating on this movie myself, but will be will be. It sounds like they're wedded to the special effects approach at this point and intend to skew it to a younger demographic. Hopefully it'll be a good film.

Brolin's on a roll. His "W" looks hysterical, until of course you realize he really is President.
Nonetheless, Brolin is kickking butt right now and it would be really crap if he gets stuck in a crappy Hex flick.
I hated Crank.

Tom Jane would still be good as well IMO.

A supernatural angle could work for Hex.

a sci-fi angle??? I'd probably pass on it.

Josh Brolin Won't Be "Jonah Hex"?
At present, Brolin says he doesn't know if he's doing it or not - "I don’t know what I’m going to do. I don’t know. It’s a very good time. It’s a very good time and I don’t want to slight anybody and I don’t want to insult anybody, but the fact of the matter is with more decisions comes a little more pressure. For me, I just try and find that thing that really resonates."

Neveldine and Taylor Leave Jonah Hex
Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who wrote and directed the Jason Statham action flick Crank and its upcoming sequel, have decided to leave Jonah Hex, the DC Comics Western character that was expected to star Josh Brolin in the title role as the disfigured gunslinger and bounty hunter. Their departure from the project has been attributed to "creative differences" and Warner Bros. is moving quickly to find a new director to keep Brolin on board for a spring start.

Let's home they work it out 'cuz Brolin would be great.

That sucks! Josh should just bow out.

The producers really screwed up big time! It is Akiva Goldsman production after all!

LEXI HEX? PLEASE GOD YES
Last night at the Punisher: War Zone premiere afterparty, Lexi Alexander said that after dealing with Lionsgate the last few months she wasn't sure if she would want to do another studio film. But that's the kind of thing you say before a check gets waved in front of your nose, and there may be a check coming her way from Warner Bros. The script for Jonah Hex is sitting right on her desk right now.

Having only recently having had any interest in seeing the new Punisher flick I have to ask, is she any good? She sounds great but I must admit I have no idea.

Man, Brolin would be so great in this flick.
A bit psycho western I could go for but sci fi? I think that's a mistake.
