Default Okay, so New Earth is Earth-0...

...NOT Earth-1, as it was annoyingly referred to after Infinite Crisis?

Right?

I'm so confused.

And if it indeed isn't Earth-1, then that means we still haven't seen the new Earth-1 at all....correct?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Final Crisis takes priority over the first issue of Tangent: Superman's Reign (which was probably just a mistake anyway).

So the DCU that all the monthlies are about is Earth-0, and we still don't know what Earth-1 is.

^^^I thought New Earth was called Earth-1 in other places outside TC: SR?

I seem to recall references in Infinite Crisis itself...

Nope. When the new Multiverse was created in 52 it was "New Earth/Earth-0" and Earths 1 through 51 as written by Waid, Rucka, Johns, and Morrison himself...

New Earth was referred to as Earth-1 in Tangent Superman's Reign, but it was probably just an editorial slip.

Quite the contrary, actually. In Infinite Crisis #7, Alexander Luthor Junior explicitly states that the new Earth isn't Earth-1.

This isn't Earth-One, Superboy. It never really was. And now this "unified" world, this new Earth, has been altered again.

Thanks for the clarification, guys.

So I wonder what, if anything, will be done with the new Earth-1?

I think this would be a great setting for an "Ultimate" style line, but Didio made it clear recently on Newsarama he's not interested in focusing on anything outside of the core, Earth-O DCU.

I thought we saw Earth-1 in Justice League of America #0?

The one with all the silver age heroes at the start of their careers?

Way back when I thought that would be the basis for the All-Star titles but they seem to be happening on their own Earths?

We never saw what was on the Earth in JLA #0. The picture on the wall of the heroes in their younger days was exactly that, a picture hanging on the wall of the room Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman were talking in. It was not meant as a glimpse of the newly discovered world.

I'm pretty sure the text referred to them discovering younger versions of themselves on another world?

Earth-0 history doesn't match up with the younger, updated looking heroes in the panel.

Also, it doesn't make sense that the JLA would have a picture of the Dark Knight/All-Star Batman. I don't think they were pictures in the trophy room. I think they were glimpes of other Earths.

What comic book did you read? There was no text about younger versions of anyone. The heroes in the photo weren't updated, they looked exactly as they did when the JLA and JSA first met each other. And Dark Night/All-Star Batman was not one of them.

Brad Meltzer himself confirms this.

As for misinterpretation: The JLA/JSA shot on that page is not who they’re seeing on that Earth. It’s simply (as many people realized) a photo on the wall – you can see the glass shining if you really look at it.

I would also like for Earth 1 to be the modern beginnings of the DCU. Ultimate DC if you will. Of course, I want to see the core DCU fixed with consistent versions and origins of characters 1st before they move on to creating new updated origins and characters in a new universe.

On another note, how many people would love to see the map of the multiverse?

Well, Morrison kinda implied that now the orrery is gone and that the multiverse might be growing in his Newsarama exit interview, but I'd still love to see more of the Earths developed and identified, so a map would be awesome.

I kinda hope Earth-1 is Earth-1...the original. Could be where the new/old Aquaman is from in FC.

You're correct. He's not in that panel, he's in another one. And several alternate Earths/futures/pasts were shown around the same pages that the picture was apparently in.

The dialogue suggested that picture was an alternate Earth to me, but it's good to know there's a definitive history for New Earth then.
