I don't know why but for some reason it sounded to me like Conan at the wheel. Adam builds himself Physically into He-man. He would still need the power of the sword, but there would be no change from adam to he-man & back again.

Once Adam becomes all Schwarzeneggered he isn't going to go back to slim lean Adam. No secret identity.

There's nothing in that review that indicates that. But assuming they did have that in mind, there is precedent for it: the earliest mini-comics had He-Man as being a simple jungle hero, no real name given and no secret identity. He's only known by his codename and is already the athletic fighting machine we know. just not superpowered by any means. If Adam were to turn into He-Man in the movie and stay that way for the rest of his life, it's got precedent in the franchise's history.

That said, I still don't see anything at all in the reive that indicates that's going to happen. His "training" is, to put bluntly, kept vague, and if there was no "By the Power of Grayskull" moment, it's almost certain the review would make note of it. I think it's far too soon to assume Adam won't use He-Man as a cover identity to throw Skeletor off the track.

I disagree. I read the review as that what was happening (what Devlyn said). It read, to me, that he was training for his role.

And I don't like how the reviewer complained about campiness. I think some humor should be included, not necessarily campiness (don't exactly know what that equates too though for the reviewer), but there should be a lighter side tho things as well.

You want kids to be able to see this movie, but right now I don't see it w/ this script.

Dunno, is there time enough for Adam to rule now that SPOILER. Highlight below text to read
the King is dead

and remain He-man? Which isn't to say that during the inital confrontation Skeletor will recognise He-man as Adam, but more of a what happens next.

They could always go the beastmaster route and He-man will never aknoledge his past as Adam, allowing anoterh relative to rule in his stead.

I would assume not, if Skeletor's already overrun Eternos/Capitol City. There probably isn't a kingdom for Adam to take back. Skeletor would have to be deposed first.

From Latino Review:
Warners Does Not Possess The Secrets of Grayskull
So what is the latest on one of my favorite scripts of the year – Justin Marks’ GRAYSKULL?

Nothing. As it stands, the project is dead at Warner Brothers.

From Kung-Fu Panda to He-Man?!
According to my sources, one of my favorite projects got itself a director. Supposedly, Kung Fu Panda director John Stevenson went in to the Silver offices, came in and did this killer take on He-man and the Masters of the Universe and got himself the job!

Apparently, the He-Man movie is not dead after all. I hear Stevenson's presenation razzle dazzled the execs.

I honestly don't know how I feel about the guy because I never saw Kung Fu Panda. On one hand, I'm excited that the project is still active, on the other I'm not really sure if Stevenson is the right choice.

Default Masters of the Universe

From Variety: WB, Joel Silver shaping He-Man film - John Stevenson to direct live action 'Masters'

He-Man is a brawny prince who transforms into a warrior who becomes the last hope for a magical land called Eternia, which is being ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor.

Stevenson said the first film came to mind when he was asked to consider the job, and the impression wasn't a good one. He changed his mind when he went to Mattel headquarters and was shown into a secret lair that contained the visuals created by the toymaker staff.

"There was this locked bunker that you had to be escorted into," Stevenson said. "It was filled with art, some generated by the Mattel artists, and I looked around, and said, 'I get it.' We started formulating a specific vision for costumes, creatures, architecture, and the creation of a mythology and look for a whole world we'll create."

Waldo said that Stevenson's vision to elevate the material matched with Mattel's desire to see He-Man become a big studio film. Mattel has also brought its "Hot Wheels" film to WB and Silver.

From THR.com:
Stevenson joins 'Masters of the Universe' - Joel Silver, Warner Bros. bringing toy line to big screen

Justin Marks penned the script, which skews more toward gritty fantasy and reimagines Adam as a soldier who sets off to find his destiny, happening upon magical world called Eternia. There, a being called Skeletor has raised a technological army and is bent on eradicating all traces of magic.

"I think it's fair to say, and knowing the epic nature of this script, you will see things you have never seen before. John has that creativity."

I would definitely apply the term "Development Hell" to this movie

But it looks like even all of this movie's potential archfoes aren't keeping it down permanently

From Latino Review:
Joel Silver Updates Us On Lobo, Sherlock Holmes Sequel, Forbidden Planet And What Happened With He-Man?

What happened with He-Man? Last time I talked to you a script was being worked on.

Silver:
We let that one go. We couldn't really figure out how to do it. Sony has it, it's not with us anymore.

Just too difficult?

Silver:
Eh, it was a weird one. I'm sure somebody could figure it out. But you know, the studio didn't know really what they wanted from it and we kept trying to figure it out. But it wasn't going anywhere. For us.
