Default Secret Wars #9 really??? SPOILERS

I cant believe after waiting for so long, since this mini started that it ends like this.

I don't get it? It really don't make any sense to me, the fight between Reed and Doom was CRAP!

Here are some spoilers... SORRY!

SPOILER. Highlight below text to read

SO if Franklin is creating new universes, then why is everyone is Squadron Supreme crying over their dead universe, chances are that those universes are still around. And is everything put back the SAME??? Did anything really change??? And is EVERYONE INVOLVED GONNA REMEMBER???

Are the BEYONDERS Still around or did OWEN eat them???

How da FK is this gonna translate to the new HULK, THOR, CAP and etc, etc.

IS Dr Strange still dead??? Or not?

****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This $#!+ I expect from DC, not Marvel. WTF!!!!

and the teased promo of all the heroes fighting before the mini came out, that never happened in the series. How does THANOS make out thru all of this???

THANKS FOR RIPPING ME OFF AND WASTING MY TIME MARVEL!!!

Given that everything has been put back in place same as before, I really only see the whole thing as an interruption of the regualr storylines for months, for no purpose.

I was hoping for bigger changes, like Miles Morales coming from the main Earth...or younger iconic versions of Cap/Thor/Iron Man, etc.

About the only real change was a new name to replace "616", Ultimate Earth gone, and the Richards on an open-ended vacation in the Multiverse.

I can't see it's an interruption as they were entire storylines discarded in the shuffling (Superior Iron Man? Havok? Wasp? others I'm sure). To me, this was all an overblown, pseudo intellectual talk piece lacking action, gravitas and any real impact.

It's actually sad that due to timing, the "climax" of this was a non-event featuring a "battle" we saw better done in FF 200. And hey, we have Reed Richards, the worst most idiotic genius acting as God...so you know, THAT stinks. As I said on another board, we've already seen it...Reed fixes Victors' face, but leaves Ben alone. You remember Ben, don't you Reed? The guy you swore you'd spend every minute trying to fix (because YOU caused it) and then when you had the power of the Creator you sent to be a Guardian of the Galaxy?

That would suck if in EVERY one of Reed's new universes, Ben was still the Thing wouldn't it?

Also, are we sure we trust Reed to design each of the new Multiverses?
#1 The one where Reed's a superhero
#2 The one where Reed is an omnipotent god-villain
#3 The one where Reed is the #1 porn star and chicks really dig him
#4 The one where Reed is president...
Although I guess with the whole family along, he'll have to behave somewhat.

Still, I was hoping for a post-SW main Earth where some of the current mish-mash was fixed...where the X-Men didn't have time-travelling counterparts, and where the Avengers wasn't Cap-but-not-Cap, and Thor-but-not-Thor, etc.
Ah well, just enjoy the show kiddies.

IMO the series ended better than it began (I'll leave it as an exercise to the audience to determine if that is damning it with faint praise). They finally focused on a story rather than a dangling ramble of stories and characters and year it was a confrontation we'd seen before, but I liked it.

Mind you I wasn't expecting the Marvel U to suddenly become a radically different place, either.

Regarding Reed creating universes - seems like its Franklin, with the help of the Future Foundation with some oversite from Sue and Reed. So I figure its reasonable to assume that there won't be a billion universes with Really Cool Reed Richards.

As far as the dead universes, just because they're restocking the universe doesn't mean any particular one will come back (nor does it mean just because a Squadron Supreme Universe got created that something didn't destroy it)

The Beyonders were all killed in the old universe, as was everyone else exepting Owen, Doom, Strange and the Life Rafters. Whether Reed recreates the Beyonders are another thing entirely, but I'd imagine that wouldn't happen.

ok smart guy....explain Vic getting a facelift and Ben still being stuck as the Thing?

Also, if Franklin (or Reed) have been recreating the universe, we run into the opposite to the problem I had when Vic creating Battleworld. To wit: so, WHY recreate the super-villains AS super-villains? Just like Vic recreating super-heroes on HIS world, this just seems short-sighted. You don't have to kill the bad guys or just not create them....but don't give them their stinking powers back!

Irresponsible gits, the lot of them.

We haven't seen any of Reed's new universes, so we don't really know WHAT he has created. For all we know each and every Earth is without villains based on what Reed decided. (Which would also be hella boring as we say in NorCal). But it would be odd for Reed/.Franklin/Valeria et al to CHOOSE to let the same evils exist. Maybe we'll discover that they purposely changed the super-villains and therefore evil manifested in a different way.

OR we may discover that certain things are constants in each multiverse despite attempted changes...somebody weilding Thor's hammer for instance.

I assumed from the end that they were taking concepts and spinning them out and letting them be, rather than putting everything into place.

Does Ben even want to be cured after the whole "Ben sabatoged Victor's experiment" bit where he realized everything was kind of his fault to begin with?

You'd think with an expanded mini that was, if nothing else, talky......you wouldn't HAVE to assume very much by the end, no?

If it's Franklin's world, then maybe he only knows Ben as The Thing & he wouldn't really recognize him otherwise. Same with the villains. He knows them as villains, and that's why they remain as such.

I won't deny the first 3-4 issues could have been better done - the "point" of the series doesn't seem to get started until midway through the series.

There was a point?????

What I got was "Victor Von Doom makes his 5,000th bid for "ultimate power", gets it, still screws things up and ends up losing it. Meanwhile, Reed Richards proves yet again that knowledge does not equal wisdom and performs boneheaded plays all over the place while onlookers laud his genius (his true super power is the ability to blind people to what a menace he is). Ultimately, Reed stumbles into yet another mano-a-mano fight with Victor who just never wipes out Reed despite his supposed hatred (which is beginning to seem like these two may be on the DL after all this time. Not that there's anything wrong with that.) and events are forced into place that allow these two to have yet another "equal" battle (because...armored mystic battling stretchy guy is always a fair fight) and Victor will of course get beaten again and even admit again he was bested by Richards (but don't you worry, Vic will forget all about that and go back to proclaiming he is smarter than Richards by the next time they meet....because he's another really stupid smart guy) and then a LOT of vague and nebulous things will happen that will reset things to roughly how they were and a lot of supposedly deep things will be scripted by yet another guy who does not grasp that comic books as a medium need action (seriously, look at the first appearance of Superman. Was it in "Deep Thoughts #1"? I think not!) and will never be mentioned again because no one really wants to try and untie that knot. Luckily this event has drawn out so long that readers will misconstrue the sense of relief they have that it's finally over as a feeling of satisfaction with the story, readers will forget the multitude of plotlines just...thrown away because of this storyline (Hey, wasn't the Hulk really smart thanks to Extremis and going around wiping out other Gamma characters and leaving the needle that would cure him with his cousin? And wasn't Iron Man kind of a douche? And wasn't Havok still under the spell of that Axis event and didn't he kidnap the Wasp in some doomed Twilight-y romance bid?), Marvel will have taken the two boring members of the FF family off the board for a while as a slap to Fox Studios for making a God-awful movie and readers will really grab onto ANAD just because it's about time we got back to reading comics again instead of Freshman Comp 101 essays with pictures in them.

In so much as any event comic has one...yeah? I mean it might not have been a great point, as its basically "heroes set universe.history on its right course" but there you are.

At the end of the final issue, Reed says that Johnny and Ben's stories aren't done.

I enjoyed the series, but I can definitely appreciate why someone would be disappointed in it all. In the end, it IS a bit of a "much ado about nothing."

I take you back to CoIE. 30 years ago. Did not go in with all this pretention and IMO stuck the landing. The follow through by DC may have been....wanting, but the story had a purpose befitting the genre and nailed it.

Kingdom Come. Same thing.

that's right...I used two DC events to show the problem with a Marvel event. That's what I felt about Secret Wars right there.
