Default What is the ONE most under-rated comic series EVER

So make your case for one on-going title that was gone too soon due to being cancelled.

However,
-it needs to be an on-going lasting less than 12 months.
-not cancelled due to creators leaving, but for non creative reasons.
-not re-started in a slightly altered format.
And it is book that you personally truly feel ended too soon and you still miss...
- No mini's (well unless they never made it to the end)
Oh yeah, Please - give only one.

For me it is 'Mazing Man - loved that book. (okay I fudged a bit, to it having a few specials after the fact.)

The book just dripped in fun and humanity - and had art that fit perfectly. It still makes me smile when I re-read it and still miss it totally.

I would say B.C. Boyers Masked Man from Eclipse. A very good book in the vein of The Spirit. Well worth digging in the dollar bins to find.

Can I fudge your rules to 12 months (12 issues and an annual)?

DC/Impact Comics the Black Hood. A brilliantly woven internal mythos to present a subversion of the comic-book anti-heroes like the Punisher et al, yet arguable a book that was accessible to kids as well as adults. Great stuff from Mark Wheatley and Rick Burchett.

The new 52 - probably not for me...

That was my second choice, along with their very good Fly series from the old Impact Comics.

The twelve month or less rule stumps me...I can't think of anything.

My first thought when reading the thread title was Manhunter by Ostrander. I love that book and miss Mark Shaw.

Looking to trade my single issues for the trade paperbacks. Inbox me if interested. Green Lantern, JSA, Avengers and many DC & Marvel books.

Those were 2 of my favourites as a kid.

Bates' and Weisman's CAPTAIN ATOM series is a good choice (why that hasn't been collected is a crime)

My personal pick is Green Lantern: Mosaic.

I put that right up there with James Robinson's STARMAN in terms of sophistication (maybe a little more since it was done first) myself.

Second that! Followed by Justice Society of America by Wein and Parobeck.

There's only one series I liked that fits this description, but it was fantastic.

Captain America: The Fighting Avenger

An all ages, during World War II book following his first missions where he was becoming the hero we know him to be, every issue they put out was top notch.

And by every issue, I mean 1 issue. I was supposed to be an ongoing. Then it downgraded to a 4 issue mini. Then 2 issues. Which they published as 1 double-sized book.

While I'd agree with the JSA book by Wein and Parobeck.

But I'd have to add one of my personal favorites.

Damage.....I loved that series. It did ramble a bit towards the end.

But it was good, better than most folks remember it. On of the best first issues ever. Grant Emerson had one of the single worst days you can imagine. And it ended with him in the smoking crater that had been his High School due to an uncontrolled release of his powers. (If you think back to your High School Days a dream a lot of us had.)

Banned from the State of Georgia. Drafted in Roy Harper's Titans. Given so many Dead ends just trying to find out who his real parents were. Lots of good use of Iron Munroe. And he turns out to have the DNA of most of the JSA and JLA added to his own thanks to Vandal Savage. Plus he's the son of Al Pratt. One of the very last scenes of the book was him playing pool with and talking to Al Rothstein trying to find out more about his Dad.

I may be old and crippled, but I ain't dead yet.

The Justice Society book was by Len Strazewski, not Wein.
