I swear when rewatching Cap with my kid today I had the thought that they should do this. Then I was wondering if they'd just call it "guardians" or if they'd use the original cast or the current present day one. THEN I was trying to figure out if Starhawk's design would work on the screen at all.

I made this happen with my mind!

Rocket Racoon has also been announced as one of the new characters in the upcoming deluxe edition of Marvel VS Capcom 3, possibly as a move to increase awareness of the Guardians concept. I think it's a pretty safe bet that one of his super moves will involve calling in Groot.

As a Animation, I always hoped that Marvel would "maybe" make an attempt, but as a live action movie, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is unbelievable!!!!

I'm sure they'd be going with the modern Guardians...the ones that have been in almost every major cosmic event since after Annihilation. Also they will be appearing next season in Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes and we have Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

To todays Marvel readers, this is Guardians. (not to forget Groot, Jack Flagg, Bug, Moondragon, Mantis, Major Victory and everyones lovable cosmonaut dog...COSMO!)

and hell yes! I love me some modern GotG!

I think the original Guardians are more interesting to base a movie on.

this would be a great movie, if it comes out...whichever version. Older version has a more interesting premise, but i'll be honest, the new version has an insanely badass cast.

As much as I'd love to see a movie with the original Guardians I think I can picture the modern team on the big screen more than the original.

This would be soo cool!!

I have. Really prefer the original crew, although it was good seeing Mantis, Rocket Raccoon, Moondragon & Drax. I couldn't tolerate the wiseacre take on Starlord. Cosmos the telepathic dog was fun, though.

From Latino Review: Marvel to announce Guardians of the Galaxy movie in 2014.

Looks like Thanos might be in it and it will lead into the next Avengers movie.

If true, that indicates strongly that they're planning to go with the more recent, "present day," version of the team, rather than the original, "in the future, and also an alternate parallel universe," version of the team.

Which is awesome, because Raccoon.

While I would love to see something done with the original squad I'm more than ok that they would move forward with the current team.

in addition to Rocket I'd love to see them do Groot as well. But all in all to see Drax and Star Lord on the big screen....Well that's enough for me!

PLUS...THANOS!!! NUFF SAID!!

wow.

This just FKN blows my mind!!!!!

I would never ever have believed Marvel would ever do a GOTG flick. Amazing. Just amazing. AND... even though it won't be the ORIGINAL (CLASSIC AND BEST!!!!) lineup. I think this will make people go out and get a trade or Gawd forbid original issues!! YIKES!

I was a fan of the 1990s team so I hope those members are in the film.
