Cancelling any title to regroup and rethink things is not a bad idea.

I'm pretty sure Marvel and its creators understand the significance of the Fantastic Four title more than us fans. They tried an approach that isn't garnering enough monthly sales. They want to put out a successful monthly comic. If not, then they would just keep the same creators and plug away regardless of the sinking ship all to please the small amount of people still buying the title, which is pretty small as Mackaybear pointed out.

As my brother put it - "Sounds like a stunt by the writer - when was the last time someone was talking about what happened in a Punisher comic?"

What's Behind Marvel's Campaign To Remove The X-Men From Merchandising?
It’s not too surprising that Marvel and Fox are engaged in a little “secret war” of their own, over the licensing of the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

So Marvel engages in petty business practices, just like DC. What a surprise.

I'm curious: are they going to start throwing fits and demanding characters be removed from comics a la Stephanie Brown/Smaillville? Because that would really be bad.

On a long, extended break from massive comic-book events.

Fantastic Four’s Behind-the-Scenes Drama: Fights, Reshoots, and a Disastrous Press Tour
Yes, the superhero blockbuster is a terribly mediocre film, but it was also Von Doomed from the start, plagued by vicious rumors, a licensing battle with Marvel, and reshoots.
