AXIS #1 came out this Wednesday.
Any thoughts, reactions or general discussion?

i'm still plowing thru Original Sin but i'm curious what the big idea behind Axis is?

i know Remender is the main creator behind this but i don't know what it's supposed to be about--lotta Red Skull and Magneto is what i've gathered.

Teaser image I've seen is Red Skull wearing armor very similar of '90s villain. Can't remember the dang name. It was when Professor X mindwiped Magneto. It tainted Professor X's mind creating an amalgam of the Professor & Magneto's powers, really powerful. I'm sure someone remembers the villain's name.

Oh! Onslaught!

Not much of a teaser, though. They've actually called him "Red Onslaught".

Seriously.

Read the #1 and found it......overly "Whedon". Meaning EVERYONE seemed to have a line of snappy patter. Even characters you would not expect to be spouting off witty bon mots (like Storm and Colossus and Thor).

If they can't get the characters right and quick, this will be a disappointment.

Since I haven't liked Remender's Uncanny Avengers, I'm skipping this.

I enjoyed it, as I have been with Uncanny Avengers.
It's a lot of big dumb comic book fun.

The ending of the issue made me think "See. This weird crap is why I love comics."

you can put me down for the main 9 issue mini, Loki, Cap & Mighty Avengers, probably stick out Avengers World and drop after this unless it keeps me engaged, might try out Magneto during this period and i'll get caught up on Uncanny Avengers as well.
26 comics in all.

I think Remender writes the Avengers horribly (too many jokes) but I liked his X-men for the most part. I loved X-force and have mostly liked Uncanny Avengers so I hope this book gets better.

It's gotten really good IMO.
The last issue, aside from the Hulk stuff was awesome.

i just binge read Remender's Uncanny Avengers and Captain America over the weekend to get up to speed.

now i'm just waiting till Axis finishes and i'll read it all at once. looking forward to it.

in the meantime, i've read Death of Wolverine and the tie-ins (Nightcrawler #7, W&TX-m #10-11, Storm #4). gonna get into the other one-shots and stuff soon.
