Eh, he wasn't good enough to be Lex in that movie (and I typically like Julian McMahon--he was great on Nip/Tuck).

Slightly off-topic: Anyone ever notice the Corrupt Corporate Executive has become the cliche super-villain archetype, like the way the mad scientist used to be?

How about evil, conquering aliens? Remember back in the early days of the original Star Trek how advanced extra-terrestrial beings came to earth to help humanity instead of eating them? Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., Starman? Now we get a constant barrage of xenophobia & paranoia. I miss the sense of wonder.

How do you make a great FF film? It shouldn't just be an echo of The Avengers. It can't be more of the same with a better cast than the last films. And it has to get out from the shadow of The Incredibles.

The things I would do are: 1) it's about family; 2) it's about celebrity; 3) it goes back to Waid's idea that the FF are not heroes but explorers. Send them off on a great adventure instead of having Dr Doom or the Skrulls or what have you come to them. And have the world watching.

Make Reed and Ben older - audiences are fine with a 40 year old Tony Stark, so Reed and Ben can easily be that age. Keep Johnny a teen. And get an actress who isn't a knockout for Sue. And then go somewhere new.

I think Millar will do a good job with this....BUT IMO it will never work the way it did with Marvel Studios because they have so many properties to work with that led up to Avengers that it turned into a great film universe. Fox has much less to work with so while it will be nice to see decent movies it will never be like the Marvel Studio build up to Avengers.

I think Millar is better at coming up with an interesting story than at staying true to the heart of other peoples' characters, so I'm mixed on this news.
