It's interesting. I saw this with a bunch of friends, none of whom has a vested interest in protecting a comics legacy, and a couple of sacrosanct bullet points, and they all loved the movie.

I think the movie made a compelling argument for a flawed person who is trying to figure things out.

Klinton Spilsbury challenged any notion of the Lone Ranger being an American Myth.

My 21yr old baby sister thinks of the 90's animated series and the Superman & The Legion of Superheroes cartoon from the mid-2000's when it comes to Superman (because we'd watch those together for fun)

Ah, it's not upsetting.

It makes me feel older than my years, but it's not upsetting.

I do now feel empowered to fully embrace the "Get off my lawn!!!" portion of my life. Starting... NOW!

And a compelling argument that people who can and do level buildings without a care in the world should figure these things out in a desert.

In MY day, Don West and Judy Robinson spent years cooped up on a spaceship and never had sex.

In MY day, gas was leaded and all coffee was caffeinated.

In MY day, the Flinstones were on in prime time and had cigarette ads.

Sure, but the old adage applies, you can't pick where the giant enemy spaceship comes down at.

Plus if you did that, you'd have the stupid Devastator fight of the first Thor movie.

First off, it was the Destroyer. Not the Devastator (seriously, you run a comic book message board).

Second, he WAS fighting in a cornfield and TOOK THE BAD GUY TO MAIN STREET. I mean, that's just Super-Sloppy.

In Mackay's day, people watched Reefer Madness as a cautionary tale.

Second. He grew up on a corn field, with a father that told him that people might not be worth saving. So what IF, WHAT IF, it was the corn he was concerned with the whole time. BOOM.
