Default Stargate Atlantis Season 5 Discussion

Ok, SG:A continues to be the best Sci-Fi show out there. The latest episode "Ghost in the Machine" was absolutely brilliant. It is a real shame that Torri Higginson did not come back to play Weir, but the actress that played FRAN did an amazing job at capturing Higginson's mannerisms. The story was smart, and had a really emotional ending.

So far season 5 has rocked.

I agree and I was hoping they would keep Weir/FRAN around in some capacity maybe out in the field with the gang. Oh well, I don't think we've seen the last of them though.

It's too bad that the next season is the last for Atlantis. The good, (semi, as I'd rather just have regular episodes than poor DVDs), is that there will be a 2 hour movie done, first released on the SciFi channel, then to DVD.

Now what will I do for my Friday sci-fi fix? No Stargate Atlantis, no Battlestar...

Where did you hear season 6 will be the last? I haven't heard anything like that.

I can see Atlantis going on for 10 years like SG-1.

It's on the SciFi website. This is the last season. Sad, really. I like this ensemble more than the SG-1 crew. More Deep Space Nineish than Next Generationy

He's angry...we're kind of using him as the team's Wolverine...being a cute little dragon, that's pretty funny. People on fire tend to stop laughing.

Grrr. Best show on Sci-Fi, and one of the best on TV in general.

I just thought that they had more chemistry together, though I can see the parallels you draw. Plus the writing was interesting. Bummer, one of only a few shows of that type that I watch.

From this article at least we will see one 2 hour movie and possibly more. I do hope they change their minds though and keep the series going

It looks great! The fat one balances the two skinny ones.

Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?

Well you know the door " Close a door and open a window"

Looks like Sci-fi has given the green light to the Stargate Universe series. It could be interesting but will be very different from the other 2 shows though. As long as this is good and we see more more movies from the other 2 I could live with that.

Not so sure about the Lost in Space angle of Universe. Especially since they've established before that the SGC types can modify Ancient ships. Nor do I see how they can work up guest appearances for the guys from the other shows with this format.

Yeah I can not see guest appearances working that well.

I think it comes down to the fact that Atlantis is so close to what SG-1 was that they just wanted something different and do not want to run it concurrent again.

I am at least happy that Atlantis should have most of it's story lines wrapped up with the movie at the end of the year.

I might have gone with pushing it into the future a bit, with humans well established in several galaxies. Sure, then you get the Star Trek vibe instead of the Lost in Space one, but at least you have more options open, including the getting lost one.

Good question. But they'll have to come up with something real good for me to buy that at this point they can't simply reprogram the ship's course. They do that sort of thing all the time in SG1 and Atlantis.

Ok, the latest episode, "The Shrine" was Emmy worthy, IMHO. And they're cancelling the series. Complete freaking fools.
