I think what hurts the success of an Invaders book is the multiple Avengers books that are out. They should be doing missions that the Avengers can't do but that's what Secret Avengers and even X-Force already do. I'm kind of liking the Torch working with SHIELD but questioning how long that can realistically last. He's basically their watchdog and at some point they'll want him out of there and he'll get deactivated. Again. I think he should have been one of Fury's recruits as his replacement in Original Sin.

I think, ultimately, there is a problem with purpose. Gone are the days (and we can argue if this is good or bad) where a handful of character can be thrown together to make a team and no one cares as long as the team kicks some rear.

I agree. There used to be ONE Avengers book and ONE X-Men book. Now there's a plethora of team books.

All of Marvel's titles are on a season-to-season basis now. None of them are going to go more than a year or two without being "cancelled". The ones that are commercially successful will be relaunched periodically. The ones that aren't will simply see their stories come to an end.

re: Invaders specifically, I tried the first issue but could not get into it. Given recent happenings with Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, and Namor, it would not surprise me if Marvel views those characters as better-utilized elsewhere.

And almost every X-Man of note has a solo title too.

I liked ONE Avengers book. I never even liked West Coast Avengers that much.

Used to be one X-men book? Wow we goin waaaay back.

I long for those days. I'm very nostalogic for like 1987 right now. Maybe 1991 or 92 if I want a few extra titles.

Those were the days.

I'm nostalgic for 1967, let alone 87.

It's great though when the books are good. It's like extra helpings. But the current Avengers books are hard work. One issue takes ages to read and I can't understand much of what I've read when I've finished. I have a pile of the last five months of Avengers, New Avengers and Uncanny Avengers, and All New and Uncanny X-Men to read, and they keep getting bumped down the reading list order. At least with DC titles they are easy to read and the Image ones are so good you can't not.

Yea but even back then the Invaders had trouble getting traction in the marketplace.

The Invaders have the same problem as the Justice Society - they're tied very closely to the WWII era, so you either tell stories set in that era (and risk disconnecting it from the present-day continuity), or you remove it from that context (and risk making it Just Another Super-Team). It's a tough nut to crack.

I am a good year behind since I read on Marvel Unlimited. I found age of ultron to be the most confusing thing I've ever read. In fact I'm still not sure how they "Won". Infinity wasn't much better.

Marvel's best 2 books right now in my opinion are Thor (and its not close) and Captain America. Silver Surfer is also pretty good though its still early on that one.

I'm gonna be really upset at Marvel is they cancel this book after cancelling New Warriors. Cancel Avengers World or one of the 10 or 15 different X-titles instead.

Age of Ultron was disappointing. Marvel was more interested in the ramifications (status quo change: Ultimate universe can now interact with MU 616, Hank Pym is all-new, all-different!) of Age of Ultron.

I enjoyed Infinity.

Planning on reading Original Sin via Marvel Unlimited.

Y'know, I was initially very excited for West Coast Avengers, but the excitement didn't last long. I remember a reigniting of interest when Jim Hammond joined the team- no pun intended.

I have always enjoyed those WWII connections. Marvel or DC there's something about that because of the connections to the burgeoning comic industry that is subtext. I will always give those types of books a try.

Agreed. I would snatch up a new "All-Star Squadron" book in a second.

However, I feel "Invaders" is not sticking around, which is sad. We know Falcon is replacing Steve, so we're losing a huge component of the book right there. And I agree with others in that Robinson should have come out of the gate with guns blazing on this one. Throw in everything plus the kitchen sink. My favorite issues so far were the two with Golden Girl's successor, who I am assuming is intended for membership down the line. I hope I'm wrong and this book continues and hits its stride pretty soon .

Were those the Original Sin branded issues? I skipped those, I really dislike the notion that everyone has something to hide.

I imagine that the Avengers stuff is going to be shaken up after Hickman leaves the titles (since Avengers, New Avengers and Avengers World are all heavily tied to what he's doing).

Yes they were, but it was an interesting tale - almost more of a "hidden piece of continuity" than "dark secret at the heart of a hero" kind of thing.

If All-New Invaders is getting cancelled, I wonder if that means T'Challa's gonna get to kill Namor like he said he would.
