I was confused by this because I have had replies saying that Superman can move faster than the Flash when they are flying. This made me think that The Flash must be able to fly.

No. He can simulate flying type activities through his manipulation of speed, but cannot actually fly.

In Identity Crisis Wally was spinning his arms around, which enabled him to "fly." But other than that, no he can't fly.

And people ask why there is no "Teen Lantern."- Green Lantern John Stewart in Teen Titans #6

It's an honest mistake. There have been many contradictory situations where The Flash can (sort of) fly, and situations where he straight out can't.

Simple. They can be new to the world of Flash, and comics in general. We shouldn't assume that everyone that visits this site has the same amount of background information as each other. Be nice to the newbies, everyone.

The Flash has been known to fly, depending on how you define "flying".

Flying - DEFINITION (there's lots - but here are three that sort of apply)
1. To move through the air using wings. - Nope
2. To be carried through the air by the wind or any other force or agency. - Yep
3. To float or flutter in the air. Sort of

So, does the Flash "fly"? Yes. Does he fly in the same manner that Superman or Green Lantern do? No. He can hover through air movements. He can propel himself through momentum or air currents or air movement. He can "push" himself into the air through a whirlwind. He can cushion his landing by manipulating air. So, his flying abilities are limited to what he can accomplish through pushing air around, and not an inherent flying ability. His ability to fly is very similar to the Atom's ability to fly - in that they both can create conditions, using their powers, where they can fly.

At least that's my take on things.

Either this is a humorous take on internet arguing, or your spelling betrays the true idiot. For your first post on these boards, I am unsure as to which one this is.

If someone where to base their experience on the Flash from the cartoons (pre-JLU, the 1960's ones and the Superfirends), there's a lot of contradictory examples showing Barry flying. So, I'd say....."sometimes, depending on the medium".

Nope...Johnny and Jesse Quick are the only speedsters that could fly.
Even when Wally tried using their speed formula...he wasn't able to.

The Flashes can kind of float. But not fly.

As StarFlash said only the Quicks could fly.

He can spin his arms fast enough to make him propel himself into the air.
I also remember reading he can vibrate so fast he could "step" on air molecules. But I cant remember where I saw this. Plus, i could be ********ting.
