At least we know the project's not dead (yet). (shrugs)

From TV Guide. com

But will it beat The Flash to the silver screen?

The more I hear about this film the more discouraged I feel. When I first heard Whedon was on board I was quite excited, I love Buffy/Angel/Firefly and I even read X-men because of him.

But now the longer it takes I just think she's going to turn out like a cry-Buffy. Blonde, petite and peppy without a trace of the Amazonian Princess.

This is DC's chance to put her up there with great success of Batman Begins and to and extent Superman Returns, but it seems to be spinning out of control.

It is possible to do great comicbook movies and I wouldn't have thought there is a shortage of source material. You can take your time to get it right, but hasn't Whedon been at it for a long time now?

Don't get me wrong, I will be first in the queue to watch it, but I am losing hope at the moment

I agree this is SO important as it gives the general public thier first new version of WW since the 70's (discounting JLU not for quality but just amount of people who saw/followed it). If WB/DC can get successful movie franchises of the big three up and running then that's really a dream come true thinking back to how bleak things looked post Batman & Robin!

It's easy to understand Whedon's problems working on the script though. This is a character who has been handled many ways in comics with people having thier own take on the character and he's got to get her across in one movie that will define her to the general public for this generation! I'd rather wait and have it be the best it can be but, yeh, waiting sucks!!!

I for one have faith in Joss.. I would rather have him take his time and write and direct a movie that both he and the studio arew confident in. to rush it out for the sake of doing will end up sorta like..I don't know...ELEKTRA! I feel just as leary about the film as everyone else, but I think Joss is the man for the job imo, and I will look forward to seeing Diana on the big screen.

So with nothing concrete about casting going to come anytime soon what are peoples opinions on Lynda Carter appearing in this movie? (Apologies if this has been discussed to death elsewhere on the Bloc!)

Here's Whedon's views again the subject;
However, Joss has admitted that he'd like to include TV's original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter in a cameo role, but only if it is "right for the movie." He loves Carter's work, and is open to the idea of throwing her into the new film, but won't do it just for the sake of some weird nostalgia satisfaction. He has said "Itís just a question of Iím not going to do something that isnít integral to the film. If I found something that was right, absolutely, but not if it takes you out of the narrative."
ddf
I'd definately love to see Lynda in the movie in some form, personally it wouldn't take me out of the movie enough to spoil it. In fact the idea of her playing Hippolyta just makes me smile

What do you guys think, Carter as Hippolyta, small cameo, or not at all?

It's amazing how many supposed fans are burying this movie before the script is even finished.

Even the most uptight fans at least wait until the casting announcements to start the DOOOOOOOOOOOM! machine.

But that's Wonder Woman fans in general. Don't you know nuthin'?

Seriously though, Lynda as Hippolyta is more than appropriate. It HAS to be done.

That machine started up 3 years ago. So you're a bit late.

The reason why I'm so uptight about their selection and the script is because I see Wonder Woman as an iconic figure for women everywhere. Just like the boys have Batman and Supes, the girls have Wonder Woman. She is a symbol of independence, power, and self-respect, three traits that all women should have for themselves. And for them to just cast any actress that is seen as an object rather than a human is not gonna fly with me. Just how Diana is one of the noblest of characters, they need to select one of the noblest of actresses.
