Default Who are the "core" members of the JSA?

In the JLA, you have the core 7 members of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter, and the Flash, with the core members being Supes, Bats, and WW. In the JSA, I've always thought the core members were Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, and Ted Grant. However, who's the quintessential members of the Justice Society? Who's thought of as a JSA member above all else?

I think Dr. Midnite, Hourman and Mr. Terrific are on that list, too.

I think the core membership would be Jay, Alan, Ted, Hawkman and Power Girl. Dr. Mid-Nite might also make it.
But those are the heart and soul of the JSA.

I'd say the guys who are absolutely the heart of the team are Hawkman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Wildcat. Power Girl, Mid-nite, and Mr. Terrific are like the second tier, in my opinion, and maybe Hourman, too.

If you want 7 quintessential members (in the same way the jLA do/did) I'd say Alan Scott, Jay Garrick and Ted Grant's are given (their the JSA's trinity) and I would argue for Mr. Terrific, Stargirl (for what she represents), Power Girl (even if I dislike her character), dr. midnight and Dr. Fate

Cheers.

James.

Alan Scott,Jay Garrick,Dr. Midnight, and Power Girl are who I automatically think about when I think JSA.

I think Courtney will be an essential character in a few years. She's been a long-lasting member of the current team,is wildly popular and extremely likable, and can kick some butt in her own right. If she stays on for the next 5 years or so(which I think will happen so long as the series lasts that long),she'll become a key member. As it stands now,I think she represents the future of the team.

I think a quintessential 7-member line-up is:

Hawkman
The Flash
Green Lantern
The Atom
Sandman
Dr. Fate
Starman

This is not necessarily my favorite line-up, however (which would include Wildcat, Power Girl, Stargirl and Hourman)

Hmmm.. This is my classic line up.

Kal-L (Loved those Silver Age appearances)
Green Lantern
Flash
Dr.Fate
Hourman
Wildcat
Johnny Thunder

...and erm
Dr. Midnight
The Spectre

Quick, how many fingers am I holding up. Gotta have em all!!!

Now though it's merely...
Green Lantern
Flash
Wildcat
Mr. Terrific
Dr. Mid-Nite
Ok then ...Hawkman
..and if you insist Sand

Now...

Flash
Green Lantern
Wildcat
Hawkman
Sand/Sandman
with...
Dr. Mid-Nite
Mr. Terrific
Stargirl
Power Girl

Then...

Flash
Green Lantern
Hawkman
Atom
Hourman
Dr. Fate
Spectre
Sandman
with...
Dr. Mid-Nite
Wonder Woman
Black Canary

Bette Kane is Flamebird.....except no substitutes! Of course, if they call her Bat-Girl, then that's okay. :)

Wildcat never seemed like a "core" member to me, I know geoff has it that way now. My core would be Hawkman, Flash, Green Lantern, The Spectre, Dr. Fate, Hourman, Sandman, and the Atom. Y'know the ORIGINAL, founding JSofA. I guess Mr.T has been the Hawkman of the newer run.

All the Golden Age members, plus Mr. Terrific and maybe Dr. Mid-Nite.
