The newsarama article's actually got me more interested in the book. I think it's pretty obvious who's going to bite it in the Rann-Thanagar special and what's going to happen to give Kyle the boost. Presumably, he'll be a grimmer hero, which could be interesting. So, despite my misgivings about the new name, costume, abilities, I'm definitely onboard because I'm a fan of Kyle and I enjoy Ron Marz's writing.

I said that in one of the threads
Mods - Can you close out 2 out of the three threads - they are all the same subject.

We have the cover thread - http://www.comicbloc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18392

We have the Ion @ Newsrama - which is this one

And the one in IC - http://www.comicbloc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18395

Anyone disagree?

I don't think anyone is going to die . The event that happens is the cpb is destroyed and kyle is forced to harness the power and that is the sacrifice .

He wont be as powerfull as he was with Ion the first time around cause he will still be powering 7k green lanterns

But is it 12 issues, or an ongoing? If it's just 12, might as well wait for the trade.

However, there's one other person on the space mission whose death would really tear Kyle up and whose powers are tied closely enough to the GL legacy that they might power him up. In addition, there is a noticeable absence from the silhouettes on the Outsiders solicit.

Nail on the head. Although I was thinking that Kyle's power internalization would probably come from a different source (say, the Guardians), I think you're right about that particular character's fate, either way.

I'm excited to see where this series will go. I'm not 100% on the costume, and not just due to the face-plate. I was really hoping that the "Power of Ion" costume Kyle wore would be the basis for this - I think that's the best costume he's had so far, by far. This is more like a traditional GL costume with some twists and a modified logo.

But I'll wait and see how it's employed and drawn in the book before passing judgement.

It'll be interesting to see this series develop - especially OYL and in tandem with GLC and GL.

Well, here's what Ron Marz said about it over in the "Questions For Marz" thread here:

We're approved for 12 issues. Whether Ion goes beyond that is really a matter of how the sales are. So buy a lot of copies! I'll definitely stick with it if there's enough demand.

So, if we want it to be an ongoing, we need to support it before it's collected into trades. I'm going to do my part.

One of the few storylines I haven't been able to get the back issues on yet is the original Ion story. Could anyone scan a picture of Kyle as Ion, since I keep hearing good things about how he looked as Ion?

Here's the cover to Green Lantern #149, which shows Kyle as Ion.

Cool, I do think it looks good. However, the anti-popped collar club, aka my volleyball teammates, would have a cow.

I know who dies...

Really I do.

Or at least I think I know... maybe I've been misled.
