You have to wonder if he was cast to bring more women into the theater - get a wider audience than the fanboy demographic.

That's what concerns me.

It smacks of a cynical belief that superhero movies live or die by their marketing campaigns, not their actual content.

From Cosmicbooknews: Exclusive: Bryan Cranston Is Lex Luthor in Batman/Superman; Matt Damon Up For Aquaman; Mark Strong As Sinestro Possible

I believe these are rumors but the Cranston one is very strong right now.

Why Ben Affleck Said 'Yes' to Batman (Analysis)
Because it’s considered a sequel to Man of Steel and not a Batman movie, any potential underperformance issues won't ultimately land on his shoulders.

Borys Kit
The deal also potentially lines Affleck up to star in (and direct?) Warner Bros.' answer to The Avengers: The eventual Justice League movie.

What matters is if the story is strong.

I don't think Affleck signs on without reviewing a script treatment.

He has. Which is a really good sign.

Don't forget, Affleck has 2 Oscars. What about the MCU principles?

Like anything it will either be good or not good and at this point we have no idea. The best evidence we have is how much one enjoyed the movies by the crew running this one. If you like their product, then you'll likely like this one, if you hate their other work - stats say that isn't likely to change.

Affleck must have been given an offer he couldn't refuse. Marvel offered him at one time to not only star but direct a Daredevil reboot and he declined. After seeing his work in Argo I'm sure that would have been a great film to see.

Adam West approves the hire of Ben Affleck.

Since Adam gives his blessing, then thats good enough for me.

I would like to see Timothy Dalton play Alfred. Not sure he is old enough though. Maybe he'd have to be "son of Alfred." Heck, for all I know Alfred should be dead from old age when this story takes place. Still, I want Timothy Dalton - I liked him in "Hot Fuzz."

From Superherohype: Matt Damon: I won't be Robin.

Maybe not but I wouldn't mind seeing him as the liberal minded Oliver Queen.
