Was that supposed to be funny? Missed the mark by a few thousand miles there.

Good choice though. Better than expected.

Only problem is that he's in the job for a year, since he doesn't plan to move west.

I thought it was mildly funny. It's making fun of the perception the most anti-Dan DiDio people seem to have of him as the worst person on Earth. One of the things that makes The Outhousers site "work" for me is that they usually make fun of DC or Marvel by actually making fun of their most vocal and ridiculous critics. It's similar to the type of humor in a lot of The Onion's fictional-news articles.

...mainly it's making fun of how outraged fanboys get, and how DiDio is so "awful" that he will blame everything people complain about on the new editor. It's a caricature or parody of the fanboys' perception of DiDio.

Yes, humour always works best when it's explained...

Sometimes I find them funny, sometimes not. Sometimes it's just being negative for the sake of it. Anyone can destroy.

It's satire.

I just thought it was a real stretch to drag something negative out of a simple piece of news. It isn't rib-ticklingly funny, it doesn't make a vital point that needs to be emphasised that you might get in a political satire, it's just being a **** for the sake of it.

But hey, I might just be having an off day. Humour is always relative (and even spelt differently depending on where you are from!). It's no big deal.

Mark Doyle is a Vertigo editor who has worked with Snyder on American Vampire and The Wake, so it sounds like DC thought carefully about keeping the man writing the best selling comic of the moment happy, even if it is for just a year. Snyder might only have a year left in him on the book. You never know.
