Default Creature Commandos Collection

Just finished this trade - something I'd never have expected to see - and enjoyed it immensly. I had some - but not all - of the original issues.

Kind of sad that it never found its audience, I liked the stories even if they sometimes strained credulity (the origin for Dr. Medusa in particular is a groaner).

It also includes one of the more disturbing Code comics I've read.

SPOILER. Highlight below text to read
Nazi scientists use a Hitler double to brainwash kids to only love Hitler. They also give them superstrength. The kids' first test is to murder their parents; later they fight the Creature Commandos, have their programing broken by fear, kill the scientists and Hitler double then explode into fleshy masses as the experiment that gave them super strength kills them.

There are a lot of great early-J.M. DeMatties stories in that collection. I had most of the original issues, but bought the trade anyway just to complete the run and be able to read it from start to finish. I haven't had a chanec to do that yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Weird War Tales was one of the first comics I read as kid, the Creature Commandos, GI Robot, etc. That and Sgt. Rock bring back a lot of memories.

I have the first runs of Creature Commandos and GI Robot as well. Excellent reads.
