Certainly understandable. The "good" news is there doesn't seem to be a release date for #2 yet, so you still got some time before you fall further behind.

Went for broke and took a trip in town (a loooooong one, but it was worth it). They had the first issue of the shield.

Just finished it and really enjoyed it. So many questions raised, but they also give a good feel to the character. Worth searching out.

Now we just need to wait for #2 whenever that's gonna be.

Speaking of delays...

Michael Gaydos is no longer the artist of THE BLACK HOOD. #8, now delayed until Jan., will be penciled by Robert Hack before new series artist Greg Scott takes over with #9 in Feb.

Yeah I read about Gaydos leaving the title.

So SHIELD 2 is delayed?

I have to say I think delay's are going to kill this line at this rate. It also reminds me about Rich Burchett's(?) RED CIRCLE relaunch from the early 80s that was full of delays that led to the title being taken over to get it on time by other editors that ended up sinking the momentum that relaunch had.

As of earlier this week, THE SHIELD #2 and HANGMAN #2 have no release date. I don't believe THE FLY #1 has been solicited yet. Right now, the only Dark Circle books on the schedule are THE BLACK HOOD #8-9 in Jan. and Feb., respectively. I don't even think THE BLACK HOOD Vol. 1 has been released yet.

Archie had some serious momentum going both with Dark Circle and the Archie books and they're sinking it with these delays.

I don't understand how THE SHIELD can only have one issue in the can. It was solicited for April. The new artist reason doesn't cut it. That was over 6 months ago.

I can't help but wonder how much this has to do with cash flow.

Yeah, that worries me a lot. I've liked a lot of these titles (and I've even been enjoying the new stories in the digests of the classic Archie style) but this is the kind of gamble and the type of stumble that could be disastrous.

Thoroughly enjoyed Hangman #1, Black Hood #7 and Shield #1. Some high quality work. That Archie are struggling to publish monthly books is a big concern.

The new 52 - probably not for me...

Tentative (my word) release date for HANGMAN #2 is Jan. 20 according to a recent preview.

It seems clear there are cash-flow problems for Archie. I have been having emails every few days about one sale or another.

I hope they can ride out the changes they probably need to make. I think they have a 'contender' in the Dark Circle line, with some real gems, but death-by-sporadic release would be a sad end to a promising development.

gotta be a record for language in an Archie published book. however, the premise is compelling. Hope they can get the scheduling issues sorted out. The Horror and Dark Circle books are extremely well done and I'd like to be able to read them for a long while.

I'd like to know the continuity though, they seem unrelated to any previous version of the characters despite earlier reports. and that's ok, but they have shown that previous Hangman and Black Hood have existed and the shield's thing in this new take is based on reappearing periodically.

I'm not too sure of the continuity either. Especially considering they made THE FOX a Dark Circle book after the original version of The Shield appeared there. All previous versions of the current Shield appear to have been female, but I could be wrong there.

The May issue of THE BLACK HOOD will be a flashback tale to the previous BH, so we may get some insight there.

Overall, I'm assuming the previous continuity is unattached to Dark Circle and staying with the digial CRUSADERS book.

the first Fox series definitely went with the digital Crusaders series. I had enjoyed that. too bad that seems gone now. But the Dark Circle stuff has been good despite being tonaly different.

I'm not sure that anything I've seen in The Shield precludes the other Shield also being in the Dark Circle universe. I guess we have to wait and see.

Archie has out up a Reader Survey, so here is your chance to let them know about the scheduling issues, as well as what other Dark Circle books you'd like to see.

I did write-in votes for Comet and Jaguar where it asked what new series I'd want to see.
