Well that cuts two more books from my pull file, so in one day I'm down 3; that's what about a a quarter of my DC pull list now. What's left? WW, E2, WF, and a few odds and ends that I'm hit and miss on.

Not a huge surprise. From the moment we heard villain's month would be 58 issues, we knew four of the current books were going to bite it.

The only real surprise is that Batwing and Stormwatch aren't among them. DC hoping the new creative teams will bring a miracle turnaround on them? Doesn't seem like good business strategy.

Likewise. They keep cancelling titles I would buy in favor of other titles I wouldn't even consider trying. If they don't want sales to continue to plummet (which they are...) they need to start publishing some more noteworthy books with recognizable leads, or put "Bat" in front of every title.

Sad to hear, given how much I like these books. I will give DC credit for trying to be different, even though I get the feeling that neither book was likely to find an audience.

Here's hoping that Mieville's first run for DC won't be his last.

Really surprised about LSH, though. But PLevitz's run just wasn't that good, alas.

I lose LSH, Dial H and Threshold, after losing Firestorm this spring.

I'll especially miss Dial H and Threshhold, which were a change of pace from my usual reads.

I wonder why some of these non super hero genre books aren't making it?

Considering what somewhat else said I came up with the notion that a book like Demon Knights would've faired better as a Vertigo title that had nothing to do with the rest if the DCnU. Leave it on its own unconnected to the shared universe, or at least very loosely connected.

Oh, well. Saves me money at least I guess. I really liked Dial H and I had just gotten into Demon Knights. Seems me reading a book is its death sentence.

Heh, I know how that feels. It seems the more I really like a book the faster it's canceled. But it's always been that way for me.

It's ever worse with TV show, especially cartoons.

I'm glad that Robert Venditti had the opportunity to come in and tell a few decent stories with Demon Knights before the end. This book was always living on borrowed time, but at least it will go out on a high note.

Dial H was a crazy ride. Still not sure what's going on but always liked each issue. Maybe it will turn into one of those cult books that will be talked about for years to come.

Perhaps the solution is to do the second-tier characters as six- or 12-issue series, like Palmotti and Gray's Freedom Fighters.

To be fair, they lasted longer than most people thought they would. (Except for the war comics.)

And every group of cancellations so far has included at least two superhero books, usually more.

This is just the normal lifecycle of a comic that doesn't star a major character. They launch at a certain level, then shed readers every month until they die. That's the rule, not the exception.

That or they should do several second tier characters in an Anthology title. On a rotating basis with variable length stories.

Isn't that almost exactly what the recently cancelled DC Universe Presents was?
