Kind of hard to jdge the story when none of it's actual content (aside frtom a few pages of a preview) has been released.

I don't really care if they're similar at all, I'm just kinda tired of big events. Can't we get some good, lighter stories that don't leave the universe "CHANGED FOREVER!!!"?

I don't see how they're similiar, really. I mean, the tension between heroes in one is just a starting point, in the other it's the main attraction.

Me too. I'm not into big event company crossover by both companies. I really prefer self contained stories.

Infinite Crisis is about a big, Universe-threatening problem that is made worse by the JLA's inability to respond to it due to a schism among many of earth's heroes.

Civil War is very specifically about a schism among *all* of earth's heroes, based on a long-standing issue in the Marvel Universe (mutant/superhuman registration).

They have maybe one thing in common. And contrary to fanboy belief, DC didn't invent the concept of heroes not getting along.

It was just over-hyped. I read House of M and House of M X-Men in trades recently, and was pleasantly surprised. It didn't radically alter my view of the Marvel Universe, but it was an interesting story, if you just take it as a simple story. I would have liked it more if Bendis had explored the question of whether or not it was "right" for the heroes to try to "fix" the world...Jessica Drew's question about whether or not Wanda had been meant to do this or not was intriguing, but it turned out to just be a brief comment. As alternate Marvel universes go, it wasn't bad...largely unified world government, open and public use of powers, mutants in the military, mutants as celebrities...it kinda seemed like a Marvel take on the DCU, in a way. It definitely had the potential to be a lot more than it was.

I dunno, it didn't really make anything better, it just reversed the discrimination. it's the marvel comics version of white man's burden, more than anything.

The only thing they have in common is that they're both company-wide events with "lasting repercussions" for each company's line of titles.

Marvel have done a sensible thing by allowing Infinite Crisis to run it's course before releasing the first issue of Civil War, in order to make sure it gets the spotlight.

Having said that, I won't be getting Civil War, as I have zero interest in Marvel as a whole.

Maybe it's a new project. Like the sequel to Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity Crusade.
