Kal-El

You know, one of these days Kal-L's rushing in to save the day without a moments hesitation to think of the consequences is going to bite him in the behind.

Kal-L

Kal-El's indecision at critical moments and predisposition to be psionically taken over have muddled the poor man's mind so much, I'm surprised he has the motive force to throw a punch.

Kal-El.

I wanna see him wipe the floor with that antiquated relic from here to Kingdom Come.

Yes yes. I'm well aware that Kal-L is not the Superman that was present in Kingdom Come. Despite my age, my knowledge of the DCU is nearly unparalleled (I will not engage in false modesty! ) It was meant to be a clever play on words, referencing to the fact that this Crisis seems to be breaking down barriers between multiple worlds. Clearly my attempt at humor was ill-fated.

Still, I wanna see Kal-L get the snot kicked out of him.

I figured KC Superman was Kal El in the future. He had similar problems making decisions and wimping out...the main difference is that his problem had much more dire consequences.

Now of KC Supes showed up...that could be trouble. He's practically immune to Kryptonite, after all. And his friends are terrifying (Batman + army of robot minions = PWND. Wonder Woman + Hephaestus sword + "no really, I don't give a crap about your code against killing" = DEATH ON A STICK)

I'm rooting for Kal-El. I think the old guy is super cool...cooler. But I think DC is making statement here about the old school. No matter how cool it was...it's gone and bringing it back will just make things wrong. Kal-L is the villain here. *whew* I thought all you old school fans were going to get your way...with Hal Jordan/Ollie coming back and all. But I see they might bring the old spirit/brightness back...but the rest will be new. Sadly Blue Beelte and others had to bite it.

He never could before, why would he be able to now?

Well, to be fair, these two Supermen have never actually faced off. Even if Kal-El is "based on" the Earth-1 Superman as Kal-L seems to claim (and I'm not sure about that), he's not that Superman. The Post-Crisis Kal-El has never fought the Earth-2 Kal-L.

I must have been thumbing through that Ringo Starr/Pete Best donnybrook, by accident.
