This issue was a real return to form.

Lots of stuff all going on at once. That's what I like to see in comics.

So i guess Johns has a thing now for

SPOILER. Highlight below text to read

giant wars in the build up to the end of his second year on a story?

Hawkman had Khandauq War, GL had Sinestro Corps War, JL has the Trinity War, and Aquaman has...the scuba war. (and i would say the Flash had Rogues War, which lines up in progression: by that i mean the Rogues v the Thinker).

Hm...a bit suspicious if you ask me...

Agreed! (That was to Bizarro's post). What a cracker. Almost every panel had a different storyline going on but it all made sense. Makes up for the big pile of nothing last month.

Any of the individual plotlines would be worth following, but all of them together is just spoiling us. People whinge about Geoff but this, his final GL and his two JL books are really up to his best.

Just read 12 comics from this weeks buy pile from DC, Marvel and Image, And every single one has been superb. Lots still to go but the quality tends to drop as I work through the pile, but so far this has been an incredible weeks comics. Also got a bunch from last week as I never got to a shop, but somehow this week is taking precedence.

I should say that I liked the book. The it was great pacing, good development and I was taken aback by that final page, but as I sort of started to say above, some of it is "been here, done that and with a better paint job". The Mera storyline is interesting and is the most consuming part of the story, but with all the characters he has running around I feel like I should be more invested in the story.

Shazam was stellar, so i agree, he's on a return to form lately.

To me, what happened at the end felt less like a war and more like a ransacking.

Atlantis just got visited by the underwater equivalent of Vikings.

I love this book but the ending him leaving his city quick fast does not seem like the aquaman i know but then again he was never really connected with them .

I can definitely see this Aquaman putting Mera first.

And it's a good thing he did, because she's actually in legit danger.
