The Death of Superboy during the Infinite Crisis. It was probably the one time where I had a complete emotional response to a comic book. That last page... first I yelled, then I screamed, then I threw the book across the room, teared up, then tied one on for a fallen friend, eventually I passed out in a yard that was not my own (witnessing your childhood hero die violently does weird things to your brain).

But in the end, if he had to go... Geoff did it right. "Isn't it cool?"

I can't point to a single issue, because I've read so much by Johns. I just always associate his writing with these great character moments. Like the issue of Green Lantern when Hal ejects from a plane and recharges his empty ring by opening the falling manhunter's chest plate, or the issue where Hal is forced by the star sapphire alien to choose who he loves more: cowgirl or Carol, so he kisses the alien instead and throws her out of whack. I think the issue of JSA from way back when in which Doc Mid-Nite joins the team was great. Of course, the sinestro corps special was awesome, and the arc where Wally West has his identity wiped from public knowledge and he slowly recovers his memory was one of my favorites. I could go on...

Ignition. I think that was Geoff at his best. The Thanagarian is very close second.

His Flash run was fantastic, you could pick pretty much any issue out of it and it would be great.

However, I personally think Green Lantern Rebirth is the best story I've ever read in comics. And I have higher hopes for Flash Rebirth, seing as how I like Flashes more than Green Lanterns.

But so far, Lo3W has been great, and it may take the top spot.

Funny you should post that Grievous. #224 was my first issue of Flash/first-ever Johns issue!

Just Prof. Zoom saying "It's backwards. It's reverse. It's destiny!" hooked me for life.

As for favorite issue? I'm not sure if I have a favorite single issue -- though Rage of the Red Lanterns looks like it could be. It's got the same feel as my fave Johns arc Rogue War. That's the arc that I can point to (along with Identity Crisis) and say "here's what made me want to write fanfic). I love the chapter-opening splash monologues - good stuff!

his entire Flash run (except, to a certain extent, "Wonderland".) his entire GL run. (especially Secret Origin, Rebirth, and all of his Blackest Night "prelude"!) Rogues' Revenge. most of JSA. (i've yet to pick up the current series. i'm gonna wait til the "new team rises from the ashes!" lol) The Flash: Rebirth looks like, if i had to pick a fave, it'd be that.

GL: Rebirth.

Then the Sin Corps War.

If Legion of Three Worlds ends as strong as it started, it could top them all.

His entire run on the Flash and Green Lantern. I would have to say that the one issue that stood out the most for me was Flash #182. The focus on Captain Cold was perfect. He is no longer this flat bank robber with a gimmick. He now has morals and ethics, while hard to describe at least they exist. He is my favorite Rogue and Scott Kolins's art was a perfect combination for the story.
