Man...I have to say I really did not like this book.

Now a small confession here, I've never read a book with X in it. When Dark Horse was doing their superhero line I read Catalyst: Agents of Change and Ghost and didn't have the money for the others.

But this issue - which nominally should be new reader friendly - tells me nothing about X. He's just a killing machine; it was like watching a Friday the 13th series where Jason had been turned against a crime syndicate.

And maybe that's how the original X was, I dunno. But I didn't connect with the character at all (him being a cypher and all), and unable to connect with the character I was left with a story that was just the deaths of super-fat criminals in a weird parody of the 3 Little Pigs.

Can't say what was here would entice me to read any further about this character.

I enjoyed the #0 issue. It introduces a Punisher-style character, and immediately disrupts the status quo going forward into #1. I am genuinely curious about his back story and expect a lot more character depth to be revealed over time. I think it has the potential to be really good IF it avoids the obvious cliches of the anti-hero vigilante... I'm hoping that was the point of playing to that cliche to some degree in the 0 issue, to set expectations for one thing and then to deliver something else.
