Default What movie(s) would you like to be remade?

With "The Day The Earth Stood Still" out in theatres, I was wondering if there was any movie that you think is time to remake? I know there are movies that some think should never be remade, however there must be some that could/should be remade with todays visual fx.

The one movie I would love to see remade.... "Fantastic Voyage". Actually... I guess with a little search, it is going to be remade. Still, with the knowledge that we've gained since 1966 (when it was made) about tumors/cancer and the brain, this could be a great movie.

What's yours?

When I saw that Wolfman was being remade I was pissed! Then I actually saw who was in it, and what it looked like... now I'm stoked! I would like to see a similar treatment of Creature from The Black Lagoon.

Star Wars Episode IV. So that way:

The scene with Luke watching the Blockade Runner and the Star Destroyer thru his macro-binoculars is put back in.

His subsequent race to Anchorhead to tell his friends Fixer and Camie about it would be returned as well. (Did you know the actor who played Fixer in the cut scene was also the Stormtrooper who stopped Luke and Ben in Mos Eisley?)

Luke's talk with Biggs Darklighter would be restored.

HAN SHOOTING FIRST WOULD BE RESTORED!!!

And I'd have Luke and Leia share a HUGE wet-n-sloppy kiss before swinging over the Death Star chasm to retcon the whole "we're twins" thing out. Pretty obvious originally they weren't conceived that way by Lucas.

And I'd give Chewie a medal.

Army of Darkness.

With the comic books, there's--IMO--actually potential for a decent franchise and not just one flick.

this movie has always been on my list of movies that should be remade...

last starfighter.

its a great premise that falls apart when the movie finally gets into space. The basic plot is still relevant today so I could see kids enjoying it.

The "space stuff" was just boring to me though.

"Showgirls"

I think the world is now ready for Elizabeth Berkeley to show she's, 'not a stripper, but a dancer!'

Awesome! I love Breck Eisner's Sahara, he's a great director.

What I want remade?
Dracula. Either the Lugosi one or the first Christopher Lee film. Dracula has become so diminished, so romanticized, or so neutered that he's lost all impact. Bring back an atmospheric (but not gory), haunting tale that gives Stoker's masterpiece the treatment it deserves.

Superman Returns was a great film. DO NOT REBOOT!

On a side note, The Day the Earth Stood Still far exceeded my expectations. Very good movie, and no one does "aloof super-powered good looking Asian guy" like Keanu Reeves. That's his niche, his one man Hollywood kingdom, and he rules it with an unforgiving and iron fist.

Ahem.

Movies I would like to see redone:

- Red Dawn (I believe this is already happening)
- Conan the Barbarian
- Dare Devil (please give it a reboot)
- The Goonies (blasphemy, I know.... but I do love it so)

Alexander, this time based on the books by Valerio Massimo Manfredi and made into a trilogy. Just saw the directors cut of Alexander and it is a better film but still not a great take of his life as it misses most of the really interesting parts.

To Kill a Mockingbird, yes the original is a classic but it focus is more on the trial while that was only one event in the book, and it kind of misses the point with Bo. There is also a lot a great material in the book, family and events that could make it a totally fresh take rather than a retread.

Star Wars episodes I, II and III. I'd like to see versions that don't suck, please.
