Default Extra Green Lantern Title Suggestion...

This site is full of people who love Green Lantern, which is why I love it so. There have been many suggestions on what the next Green Lantern related ongoing title should be. Alan Scott, a John Stewart, or a second Hal title. While I do long for an Alan Scott title, I am hoping a strong presence in Justice Society of America and a major role in Checkmate will be able to sate that hunger right now. I truly think John Stewart needs at least a mini that redefines the character, with a writer, maybe Gerald Jones, that has a handle on or vision for the character. That being said with word coming out that there would be an All Star Wonder Woman title on the horizon, if Diana or Donna or whomever is wearing the tiara these days can warrent two titles, not to mention Bruce and Clark's many titles then Hal surely deserves a second title. This however proses the problem who could write this second title that could match the high quality of Geoff's Green Lantern? Which is now my favorite title in all of comics, supplanting JSA and Justice. Even an All Star Green Lantern raises the question who is more 'All Star' than Geoff, and putting out better artwork than Ivan Reis' current work? OK here is my suggestion borrowing from GL's rich history. Increase Green Lantern from 12 issues a year, no laughter please, to 18. In order to not kill poor Mr Reis' or force him to rush his awe inspiring work; a second high quality artist would be brought like at the beginning of this volume's run, maybe Alan Davis, EVS, Darryl Banks or Phil Jiminez. I am sure getting any top flight artist wouldn't be a problem for only asking for 9 (18 page issues) a year. 18 Pages you ask comics run 22 pages? Here is the second part of 'my plan', a four page 'Tales of the Green Lantern Corps' at the end of each issue. Allowing other writers a chance to tell tales of the corps, like the recently resurrected Corps members. Or let Geoff tell Tales of Lanterns that aren't related to Hal and his adventures. This would allow Reis to concentrate on 9(18 pages) a year and give whatever artist (but it would have to be a great one) that would be the co-artist time to try to match his high standards and in theory would allow this book to stay on time. This would give us the fan more Green Lantern per year written by the best in the business, Geoff. While only 18 pages of Geoff's mastery each issue would seem like less at first, you would by the end of the year have 60 more pages of Geoff's Green Lantern, plus 72 pages of Tales of the Green Lantern Corps, just about a nice mini series. So what do you guys think? Geoff can you possibly pull this off or at least suggest it? I am just trying to get as much Geoff's Green Lantern, as possible. There are a lot of great writers out there but I don't know of any that have the vision and love that could match Geoff's for Hal, I wouldn't want to have a 2nd class watered down GL title on the shelves. The wait between issues is agony though the quality of the issues is worth the wait and then once devoured the wait and agony begins again, At least with my plan there would be less of a wait between fixes. Just my two cents.

I'd really only be interested in an Alan Scott title, more so a limited series. We have 3 GL series, plus GLs in JLA and JSA. Its even been rumored that there'll be two in JLA. If we have too many series the characters get diluted.

Although, reading your post more thoroughly, a Legends of GLs kind of book could be interesting. But I'd almost prefer Legends of the DC Universe return and simply include GL tales.

Maybe a creative team of 2 writers and 2 artists isn't a bad idea... but they'd have to be the right fit, so who?

I'd like Brian K. Vaughn if I had to choose another writer...really I think the regular team at twelve is a good thing. But honestly, I want to see how the titles are thriving for a bit before I see something else. I'd love to see a John Miniseries somewhere up the way. He can be an amazing character in the right situations.

The second ongoing Green Lantern title should, and hopefully will be, Ion.

I'd like to see Guy Gardner get his comicbook back.

It's tough though, I think GLC should be expanded to be a GLC story featuring John Stewart perhaps, and a backup story with Kyle, Guy should leave the GLC and I dunno use the power glove his clone had instead, call it Fist of the Guardians or something and follow up with the whole reason the Guardians chose him as the last GL during crisis in the first place. Though to be honest they should probably just stick with GL and GLC for now. Nobody really cares about the golden age characters..

Default All-Star Green Lantern

I think Ion will be confirmed as an ongoing. After that, it looks like it will be All-Star Green Lantern. From the Wizard World Chicago DCU Panel on Saturday:

Will there be more All-Star books like All-Star Green Lantern?

Didio: "Yes,"
ddf
Later the creators were asked what DC property they'd like to work on. Responses:

Jim Starlin - "I'd like to work on the next project that I'm going to work on that I can't talk about. And I think I'd like to do Green Lantern/Hal Jordan."

Paul Levitz - "I'm with Jim on Green Lantern."

Andy Kubert - "There's actually two. Challengers of the Unknown and Green Lantern."
ddf
There are lots of creators that have mentioned interest in Green Lantern - these guys, plus others like Alan Davis, George Perez, Neil Gaiman, Kurt Busiek, Neal Adams, etc.

An All-Star book would give them that opportunity, without disrupting the 'all-star' team of Johns / Reis on the title currently. And it'd probably sell very, very well.

Dude, you need to break up a long post like that opening one.

I thought my eyes were going to explode when I saw all those words crammed together.

I would be in favor of a John mini but better still, I want him on JLA again. That is a good fit for him.

My DREAM would be Neil Gaiman/Alan Davis on All Star Green Lantern.
