I'm surprised this book is coming out of DiDio's DC - it reminds me of Cass's Batgirl series tone-wise, or at least from the few issues I've picked up here and there - which is immensely refreshing.

What I really can't wait to see is how Steph helps Wendy - she's Cluemaster's daughter at that, so she's the ideal person to help Wendy with her father issues.

Though, ultimately, Bryan Q. Miller is poised to write potentially my favorite comic(s) ever with this series: if we can get a scene between Calculator, Cluemaster, and Riddler (presupposing we can also throw Riddler's Daughter/Enigma into the mix too) I will be in fangirl nirvana. That issue only to be outdone by a sequel where Weather Wizard and his son, and Catwoman and her daughter are thrown into the mix as well.

Tad Thawne + Zoom's Time powers + no body = Josh Jackham will be back (nicely aged at that) or a member of LoSH.

At least that's my interpretation.

So I bought the first six issues of Batgirl (which is unusual for me, but I think I was itching for another monthly to follow), and I can say that I like it. I mean, it's certainly not great, but it's slowly building itself up to be a solid book.

Frankly, I think Babs' story is taking up space. It just feels shoehorned in to me, and I think that space could be better served with deeper adventures for Steph. Plus, Babs has BoP coming up, so I'm not sure if we need two books where we delve into her personal life.

Also, I think I'd like Damien to be a permanent supporting character in this book. Some of the funniest moments in this run are moments between Steph and Damien.

Finally, I never really liked Steph before, but now she's growing on me. I'd like Miller to bring out more of her snarky side, though. I mean, this could be DC's version of Spider-man.

Anyway, this is a nice comic. Not great, but I have a lot more tolerance for Bat-books, so I think that's good enough for now. But I have a feeling this will end up being pretty solid.

Her new bike from the preview on newsarama for issue 8 looks badass. Yes, It's an homage to the dark knight, and I like it.

One of the things that I like about this book is that Stephanie is the perpetual underdog. She's not the most talented or gifted hero out there. Her super-power is that she never gives up. I find it refreshing, and I hope that doesn't change anytime soon.

It's a good book. It's not amazing, but it's solid, and one of DC's funnest books. It starts off reading like Smallville/Buffy but it's breaking out of that as the issues go by.

Just read issues 5-7 and see for yourself.

My opinion on this book changed a few times. Right now I think you'd like it Jake, it's a fun book. The main character is surprisingly likable, too (I say surprisingly because at first glance it has that "the next zany college-aged girl super hero" written all over it, but she's certainly not that).

So far the only thing I dont care for in this book has been the motorized whatever you call it. (Someone on another board called it a tampon with wheels--if that's not too crass to repeat here, if so I apologize and ask it to be deleted.)
but I am loving this book more and more with each issue. I would really like to see a crossover with Power Girl! That could be downright hilarious!

I've enjoyed it so far. It fills the void now that Tim Drake Robin has "graduated" and his series has ended.

I also LOVE the Damien/Steph dynamic. And the way Miller plays with the parallel relationship between Dick and Babs when they were in those roles.

If you want to see another writer take a good stab at Batgirl, pick-up World's Finest #3 from the creative team of Supergirl. It's a Batgirl/Supergirl team-up that was really a lot of fun and I hope carries over to Batgirl at some point.
