No Jesus Saiz on art but Chad Hardin and Justiniano are cool and this team up has me very intrigued!

Hehehehe.....Joker boogers. That's kinda funny.

Interesting that on the cover the Joker has a new logo for his name rather than the usual one that's been used before. I wonder what precipitated the change?

I liked it. They got a lot of mileage out of the 70's "The Joker" series logo, but this newer one seems a little more jagged and slender, very fitting of his new Thin White Duke of Death/Clown at Midnight persona (Which, ironically, since this issue is a flashback tale, he wasn't sporting here).

It was an ok story, it really served more as more of a Joker story than an Atom one (he could have been interchanged with any other hero).

I like how JMS incorporated part of the Joker story from the "Further Adventures of Batman" novel, in which he murdered animals as a child.

When is the first collection out for JMS issues of Brave and the Bold?

Scott, Really? I'll have to back and look at that. I didn't think there was a lot on the Joker before the Red Hood.

This is the first issue in JMS's run that left me feeling disappointed as, when I imagined a story with the Atom get caught up in the Joker's mind, I wasn't expecting an attempt at an origin story.

I'll rationalise it as yet another origin 'imagined' by the Joker.

The story was decent but not up to the quality of JMS's other issues.

I don't really see how this story was a "team-up". A team-up should require both characters actually working as a team. Atom is the only one who actively did something to solve the problem. Joker just passively lied in bed.

I usually like hero+villain team-ups, but this one was just too one-sided. Straczynski's other issues were better.

Exactly!

Maybe if the mind-merge thing had allowed Atom to team up with one of the Joker's 'selves' while going through his mind then it might have been more interesting.

I agree. This did fit into what B&B has done traditionally - there've been a few that were a little one-sided like this in the past. It's well within set precedent. But I'd have preferred a more direct team-up as well, as opposed to what was ultimately ... "let me borrow one of Batman's villains" for a one-man morality play.

Anyway, I still have ultra-high hopes for next month's issue. Aquaman at his peak with Etrigan is the kind of story I've missed from DC over the last few years. Supernatural in that Indiana Jones kind of way ...
