Default Batman: The Widening Gyre #3 Discussion Thread (with Preview)

Out Nov 4th, Kevin Smith's latest Batman mini continues!

Preview at The Source: http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2009/11...dening-gyre-3/

Good preview and Flanagan's art appears to be improving too.

His art is getting better. I think a lot of it has to do with Art Thibert's inks. If Walt could just improve the way he draws Batman's head I would have no complaints.

I quite enjoyed the issue.

Flanagan's art is looking better with Thibert on inks and I liked the better look we got at the new vigilante. Plus we got a nice Aquaman cameo and some friendly banter between Arthur and Bruce which I really enjoyed!

I'm trying to enjoy this and for the most part I am. I feel like Kevin Smith is trying to add too much humor and sex to it though. The whole conversation he had with Tim after he rescued Bats from Abattoir just seemed very unnatural. Plus I thought Flanagan made Tim look way too old, almost like Dick when his hair was a little longer.

I'm not too familier with Silver St. Cloud other than the wonderfull story "Siege" by the Late Archie Goodwin, James Robinson and Marshall Rogers from LOTDK. So I'm not sure if she is acting in character or not.

That said, I do like seeing Bruce involved with someone and actually enjoying life. If I can get passed the fact that I feel like I'm reading something by "Silent Bob" I think I will enjoy it more. It's weird that I feel that way because I didn't think about that at all for his Green Arrow run.

I'm in agreement with you on the sex advice stuff in Batman and Tim's conversation. Tim doesn't seem the type for that kind of talk where I'd have been more accepting of it had it been Dick instead of Tim.

I'm a little more familiar with Silver St. Cloud having read some reprints of earlier stories featuring her.

My theory at the moment is that Silver St. Cloud might be Baphomet.
