Default Cover to Batman and Robin #3

I enjoyed all the interesting little bits of Batman and Robin#3. Like how the amusement park setting was the same as the setting in The Killing Joke. More interesting still since the issue re-introduces the Red Hood.

So, did anyone else notice that Quitely's cover is a cryptic, twisted, upside down tribute to one of the famed images that appeared in and was used in promos for The Killing Joke. You'll have to look at your copy of B&R#3 with the logo on it since the logo serves as the mouth.

Trust me.

That is very cool. I didn't like that cover when it was first released but that really gives the whole thing a new perspective.

I can see Jokers face, mouth, eyes but i cant really get how this is supposed to be a tribute to the specific Killing Joke picture you posted. Since it's just the eyes and the mouth (if these are supposed to be his eyes and mouth)

The only one who can tell, if this is scryptic or smth that resembles anything, is Frank Quitely himself. We may interpret this pic any way our imagination tell us.

With Vincent Deighan as his real name. Searched for both.

The fingers in the hair above the Joker's eyes relate to the larger fingers and the doll hair in Quitely's cover. Also the red hair of the doll's that make up the "eyes" relates to the blood dripping from the Joker's eyes in Bolland's cover.

Some other line work relates quite closely as well.

I know I felt the same way. I enjoy the hidden subtext/imagery.

btw, Quitely denied any intentional homage or swipe. For the record. but apparently both he and Morrison love the idea and note some kind've synchronicity.

Thanks so much for posting that link, superfriend.
