Didn't go, but I am interested in the new Justice league line-up, Flash by Johns and Kid Flash by Gates.

Marvelman was the story of the con but I don't really care about it that much either way, rather if it was not at DC or Marvel. Otherwise I found the con to be rather low key.

All The Flash news, and really that's it. I was slightly disappointed.

for me, Kick Ass is really what shined. Came out of nowhere, and looks like an insanely good time.

Highlight of the con - Titansfan vs. Artist's Ally. Good times!

You know, this is me - but I find the Marvelman news REALLY interesting. If only because it shows the inner-struggle of comics and comics journalism. I think it's the biggest news of the show BECAUSE the people that blog and write about comics think it's the biggest news of the show, because they know Marvelman is supposed to be this big seminal thing.

Except, no one (regular fan-wise) has really read it - and know of it only by reputation. So whom it's REALLY news for is the salty-hard-core peeps that have been reading comics since they were made of blood. Everyone I think is playing it up out of fear for not "being in the know" about the character.

I keep reading over and over again the articles about this, and they all sound sort of hollow - and then you follow it up with these sort of messages. It also seems very backwards looking to "make" this the biggest news

Personally, I've never read it. I think it's an interesting thing that they've managed to pull off rights-wise. I hope they republish the stuff so I can read it - but beyond that it doesn't resonate at all with me.

I know Swamp Thing is supposed to be all that and a bag of chips, and I've never read it, and I have been able to this whole time - I find the marvelman thing to be a similar issue.

It's a historically significant book, that SHOULD be able to be read - and it's awesome the rights have been figured out, but beyond that...

I read an issue of the Neil Gaiman Marvelman series and didn't like it and I've read some of the earlier Alan Moore stuff and would class it "okay".

That said it's great to hear it might be in print again, but I'm not sure its possible to capture lightning in a bottle twice (or some other metaphor).

So yeah its interesting but even if Gaiman and Buckingham come back to finish it off, its not going to be the same as if they did it at the time.

Detective is out of this world fantastic right now. I can't wait to get my grubby little mitts on the next issue.

That's the main reason it's big news IMO. A classic work by Alan Moore could see print/Marvel owns the character.

Alot of people wouldn't be interested with the 66 Batman show on DVD, most people I'd imagine, but it would still be big news as it's been unavailable for so long.

And that's another thing comics have taught us - if your pants don't get ripped up, it doesn't count as a rampage.

You, sir, apparently did not visit the tokidoki booth ;3 Simone Legno was there and he was wearing this hat:

See the little spiderman on the side of his hat? Unfortunately, it didn't cross my mind to take a picture, but the front of the hat had a little Thor, Johnny Storm, and Wolverine ala Tokidoki style. I asked him if this was exclusively for him and his crew or if there was any future plans for this and he said that they will be releasing Tokidoki Marvel hats, t-shirts, decks, etc. in 2010.

I have EVERY ISSUE of the run, a bunch of the MARVELMAN annuals from the 50's, all the mini's and a set of the trades. the OLYMPUS arc is brilliant. I actually gave Geoff a set of #1-24 years ago and I know he based BLACK ADAM's violent side off of Kid Marvel

So whom it's REALLY news for is the salty-hard-core peeps that have been reading comics since they were made of blood.

So is that what you and HEIDI McDONALD were talking about in the bar? Good to see ya there, Dustin. I hope yer First SD was killer.

Positives:

Robinson's JLA line-up

Geoff on Flash, Gates on Kid Flash

THUNDER Agents

Lukewarm

Marvelman- I love the Miracleman series of the past. But I know Marvel will put either Bendis or Millar on this and that will be a huge turn off. I hope I am wrong.

Spenser with an s.... like the poet.

Rest in Peace Robert B. Parker. You will be missed.

Not a ton. The SDCC is always one of the lesser of the big cons when it comes to actual comic news.

The JL line-up is interesting. I'm probably most looking forward to the X-Force/New Mutants/Legacy crossover though.

I disagree. Its the biggest con of the year--last year they hit me with a ton of stuff and it was hard to find just 10 things to narrow it down to. The year before that they announced Final Crisis.

This year, by comparison, was a huge disappointment, but there were some gems:

The Marvel Anime series--being a comic AND anime fan, this is essentially a dream come true, so I can't wait to see what Warren Ellis and whoever directs the series come up with.

Farscape ongoing--I was a huge fan of the series, so to know that my favorite Sci-Fi team's adventures will continue made me happy.

Muppet Show ongoing--I used to love watching reruns of Muppet Show as a child; the comic book mini was great, it deserves an ongoing.

Nation X. So far, Fraction's X-Men has been very enjoyable for me, and in all honesty, I'm a little tired of Dark Avengers/X-Men already--can't wait to get back to seeing Scott and Emma and the mutant race in their own universe. Also excited about them going up against Magneto for the first time in years.

JSA: All-Stars: Just when I was getting used to Justice Society having only one title, they split the book up. Oh well. Is this the book Dan and Ian said would have a lot of those heroes that'd been forgotten about in recent years? Seems like the wrong title for that.

All-Flash: Thought this was an odd idea at first, but the more I give thought to it, the more I approve. Not giving Barry his own book outside Rebirth is a smart move. Curious as to how he'll be starting Flash's book and where it will all be going. Would like to know who's drawing it, as well.

Half of these projects I was talking about last year...this SDCC was weak. I can think of seven other projects right now that I wanted to hear about from DC and Marvel.

BTW...I happen to be a hard-core comic fan and I've never read Marvelman. Saw part of issue 1? Incredibly uninteresting.

There are way to many if you ask me.
