Alright, so I was reading Batman 441 (Actually, I was reading ALL of a Lonely Place of Dying but whatever) and saw something...odd.
Dick calls Tim "Jeff" on page 14. Was this supposed to be Tim's original name or did something else happen here? I don't know if it would be in a trade version (I suspect it wouldn't be) but it is in the actual issue. |

Can you give those of us who don't have a copy to hand the context of the conversation.
It could be that Jeff was planned to be Tim's name, or it might be a joking reference to "Mutt and Jeff" or the like, the context would help us |

It's a typo.
The issue is Dick bringing Tim to Wayne Manor for the first time and Tim basically recounting Dick's origin. Everywhere else in the issue (to include the introduction of Alfred to Tim as well as every other reference to Tim by Dick), Drake is referred to as Tim. The one-off "Jeff" clearly is a mistake. Either Dick said something else there like "Geez" that the letterer misread, or it was a simple mistake by the writer or letterer. Here is the page and panel in question: ![]() ![]() ......either that or my telepathic pleas to become the next Robin oh those many years ago actually were getting through..... |

Originally Tim was going to be called Jeff. They changed his name at the last minute, but that typo slipped through.
It's fixed in the trade. |

I own a page from Titans #60, and what's fun to see there is that Tim/Jeff was originally intended to have the classic Robin "pointy side curl" hair style, but at the last minute (Last minute to the extent that they had to paste over the inked artwork) they chose to change his hair to the shorter, spikier look with a kiss curl. |
