Default So what's happening when in RIP?

OK, so at this point in Batman, he's in Rainbow Brite Zurr-En-Arrh mode and is going after the Black Glove. In 'Tec he's fighting Hush, which obviously is before Dr. Hurt made his big attack. In Nightwing Dick seems to be opperating ok but he and Alfred are talking about how Bruce is gone. In Robin the most recent issue was about how Gotham is reacting to Batman being gone but the prior two issues were about Tim trying to find Bruce. In Outsiders they can't find Batman either. Nor can Superman or Green Arrow.
So, when is this missing bit happening? Is it while he's in Technicolor mode? Is he just running through Gotham, hooked on smack and looking like a tailor's nightmare? Or is the missing bit after he's taken on the Joker and the Black Glove at Arkham and it's just been poorly planned out by DC? I'd think if he was doing his christmas-lights costume act, Superman would have been able to find him in Gotham somewhere. Nightwing being on the streets in the latest issue of Outsides suggests it's after he got out of Arkham, but it could also be poor editorial communication. What are the thoughts?

The Last two Nightwing issues take place after RIP, They don't really spoil the ending of RIP but they do enchance the readers excitement, nightwing and two-face's comments about batman and the black glove make me much more excited to see the conclusion of this great story arc.

I don't read the outsiders.

I believe ROBIN has being taken place POST RIP as well, and has not spoiled the ending of the main RIP story yet. maybe a few nuggets have being dropped there.

It appears nightwing does escape arkham, but we don't know how he did it and when, 2 issues of Batman to go to find out.

I'm well past the point of caring. I'm just trying to enjoy things on a face value here...

BUT, has anyone asked Fabian to lay it out over in the Robin note?

I think they just don't sync up, the end. But because the editors on every book wanted the sales spike from calling it an "RIP" Tie-In they put RIP in the cover but only vaguely refer to what's going on there. Because they can't spoil what happens in RIP and since RIP seems be taking place over maybe 3 days so far there isn't a lot of time for characters to be having adventures in between. But that never stopped either of the big two from slapping logos on covers.

And I personally am fine with that. Robin has been pretty okay, same with Nightwing. Meanwhile RIP is tearing it up in quality and in sales and those books tied in with it have received strong sales boosts because of it.

It's obvious that they just wanted to hype RIP into a big event, but Grant just wanted to tell his story and like in the Ra's Ah Ghul situation didn't want to plot out beats for every character in every book DC decided should tie-into RIP. So like always he told his story and everyone else who wanted a piece of the RIP-pie/DC who wanted to bake a bigger RIP-pie scrambled to find some way to kinda sorta make it fit. And as a result every Bat-Book not Batman is essentially in a holding pattern. And kudos to the excellent writers attached to them for managing to put out solid tales despite this.

So I won't sweat details or look for reasons to hate the book. I'll just enjoy the badassness that is the Batman of Zur-En-Arrrh and let the Bat-Radia show me the truth.

I have no idea what the hell is going on. I tried to read in order but nothing makes sense, so I gave up and am just gonna get the Trade now. It really is a mess, at least to me.

I think Detective is fine. That happens pre-RIP, so I don't think it messes anything up. I'm not sure why it's a RIP tie-in, though.

Robin and Nightwing seem a bit tricky, though. I think Robin's done a good job so far, and hasn't contradicted much (as far as I know), but Nightwing seems...out of place.

I think the idea of showing the stories of the Bat-family during RIP is important, but some coordination would have helped. If there weren't tie-ins planned from the start, they shouldn't have done any.

found this, =Nightwing seems fine

The Great Leap (Nightwing #147-150)
Two-Face tasks Nightwing to protect an old girlfriend of his, a witness in a high profile mob trial. While Nightwing manages to save her, escort her to court, and lock her safely in one of Batman's safe houses, he's shot by bullets coated in the Scarecrow's fear toxin. So, he's unable to save Two-Face's girlfriend from her killer: Two-Face himself, in a caracteristic show of his split-personality. While Nightwing still blames himself for the happening, Two-Face blames the entire Gotham City for being able to act unstopped, and plans vengeance on the whole city. In Nightwing #148, Two-Face asks Dick Grayson about his stay in Arkham Asylum, implying that The Great Leap takes place after Batman R.I.P.

The story is ongoing.

Scattered Pieces (Robin #175-176)
Parallel to the main story, Batman is missing and rampaging through the city in a delusional state. Nightwing is imprisoned in Arkham Asylum and Robin, fearing that Batman could have lost his sanity and gone rogue, tasks himself with finding his mentor and stopping him if necessary. He enlists the assistance of the GCPD (without telling Commissioner Gordon fearing he would lack objectivity) and puts a bounty on Batman with the Penguin. Robin asks for Spoiler's assistance, but discovers that she has instead been undermining his efforts under the direct orders of Batman himself.

While his personal life starts to go downhill due to Spoiler's sudden return, the Penguin claims someone dressed as Robin stole back the bounty. Robin brings the matter to Jason Todd, suspecting him to be the culprit due to his short tenure as Red Robin. Jason denies this, instead telling Robin of his plan to take control of the city's gangs and use them as his personal police force to stave off the chaos following Batman's disappearance. He admits shock and surprise at the knowledge of a third individual that has started using the Red Robin guise after he discarded the relic from Earth-51.

Outsiders No More (Batman and the Outsiders #11-13)
With a reduced roster, a missing Batman, Batgirl taking command and Salah Miandad trapped into the ReMAC shell, the Outsiders are left to fend their enemies alone. After the events detailed in Batman R.I.P. Batgirl embarks in an unsuccessful mission to find and retrieve Batman, witnessing how the past events tipped the scales in the Gotham microcosm, as the Penguin no longer controls Gotham Underworld, given to Intergang by Libra, Nightwing is still readjusting after the traumatic ordeal of his imprisonment, and crime runs in the streets. When Batgirl surrenders, a message from Batman arrives to the Outsiders' HQ, asking for his former teammates help.
