DC DIRECT INTRODUCES WATCHMEN MOVIE PRODUCTS

After unveiling the incredible line of WATCHMEN MOVIE products at the New York Comic Con and online at EW.com, DC Direct solicits the first wave of products inspired by the upcoming movie in this month's Previews.

Get ready for a three-month WATCHMEN MOVIE product extravaganza, beginning with items solicited in the June Previews for release in January 2009, with two more waves coming in February and March, coinciding with the March, 2009 theatrical release of WATCHMEN.

DC DIRECT brings both longtime and new fans of WATCHMEN what they crave: collectible action figures, intricately clothed 1:6 scale deluxe collector figures, exquisitely sculpted busts, and straight-from-the-set prop replicas! All products feature accurate likenesses and detailing, from face to costume to accessories.

A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, WATCHMEN is set in an 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity . . . but who is watching the WATCHMEN?

January WATCHMEN MOVIE releases:

WATCHMEN MOVIE: DR. MANHATTAN 1:6 SCALE DELUXE COLLECTOR FIGURE
WATCHMEN MOVIE: RORSCHACH BUST
WATCHMEN MOVIE: OZYMANDIAS BUST
WATCHMEN MOVIE: ACTION FIGURE ASSORTMENT #1
. RORSCHACH

LEGENDARY MAD MAGAZINE ARTIST WILL ELDER PASSES AWAY AT 86

William "Will" Elder, the successful cartoonist and commercial illustrator whose work helped launch MAD Magazine, died Thursday morning, May 15, 2008. He was 86.

Born Wolf William Eisenberg in the Bronx, New York, Elder changed his name after returning from World War II. During his time of service, Elder was part of the map-making team that was instrumental in the invasion of Normandy.

When Harvey Kurtzman launched MAD Magazine in 1952, he hired Elder along with Wally Wood, John Severin, and Jack Davis to produce content for the first issues.

"Willie Elder was one of the funniest artists to ever work for MAD. He created visual feasts with dozens of background gags layered into every MAD story he illustrated," says John Ficarra, Editor of MAD Magazine, "He called these gags "chicken fat." Willie's "anything goes" art style set the tone for the entire magazine and created a look that endures to this day."

"Willie's passing saddens all of us here at MAD," says Sam Viviano, MAD Magazine Art Director, "Everyone who has attempted to draw a funny picture over the course of the last fifty or sixty years owes an enormous debt to Willie, who taught us all how to do it - and no one has ever done it better than he did."

Why did Final Crisis have to fall on a holiday week? The extra day is going to drive me nutz. . .especially if I do not get my shipment of books until Monday.

It looks great! The fat one balances the two skinny ones.

Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?

It got increased to 40 pages, so yeah why so long to get 8 pages here when Trial of Shazam did the same thing and only was delayed a week is an interesting thing.
