I think Tom's individual issues have been strong. But I agree that he has left too many of James' plot threads dangling. Steel was what, six months ago? A status update would be welcomed.

Adding to the unresolved plotlines:

-- What's Sloan's plan, and how is Michael involved?

And I, too, thought Tom's first issue was solid. Bob Crane's appearance was a pleasant surprise.

The second traitor's identity completely surprised me, but also was completely logical. And when Atomica and the Outsider laid out how they had manipulated the Leagues, they raised the bar for JLA...

I've cut back as well, with Stormwatch and Secret Avengers the next to go.

I thought Stormwatch was better before Jim Starlin took over. I had high hopes for his writing. But instead, I don't quite...

Hi John,

Actually, the snake version was in the Post Zero-Hour version of Legionnaires. The Legionnaires series that I fondly remember featured the "SW6" Legion -- a younger version of the...

Perhaps the solution to "fixing" the Legion is to pick up from Legion: Secret Origin.

We're reading Adult Legion stories now. And I think the Legionnaires need to be 15 to 19.

Some of the Legionnaires' code names never grew on me: Alchemist, Leviathan.

But, Leon, you're right: Legionnaires was a fun book. I think the cast was a huge part of it (anyone else miss Tenzil?).

What Legionnaires did right:

-- Kept the characters' origins
-- Infused some of the characters' personalities with aspects that made sense (Live Wire is a good example)
-- Introduced characters who...

Legionnaires was a fun book. I loved the youthful enthusiasm; Live Wire was a nice contrast to Lightning Lad. And we got the Lyle-Brainy dynamic again.

Paul seemed to be setting Harmonia up in that role. Nura has had it occasionally.

And, sadly, Sun Boy was reduced to Polar Boy's sidekick.

Jim,

That's certainly possible. And perhaps with Wildlife and Timber Wolf in the 21st century, Editorial wanted Brainy to be the Legion's resident jerk.

I agree. Wasn't it Paul who established Nura's intelligence, changing the popular perception of her?

Paul has written Brainy well before, which is why the past year surprises me. That Geoff wrote...

I can't fault Paul for making Mon-El a GL. Lar certainly is qualified for the job. And it broadened the character, much like Tinya's term as team leader is testing her mettle.

Brainy, on the other...

Jim,

I think Paul had some solid issues during his latest run. Tinya as team leader was a welcome curveball, and Dirk's death was the kind of emotional beat that was a hallmark of Paul's first...

Perhaps the solution is to do the second-tier characters as six- or 12-issue series, like Palmotti and Gray's Freedom Fighters.

I lose LSH, Dial H and Threshold, after losing Firestorm this spring.

I'll especially miss Dial H and Threshhold, which were a change of pace from my usual reads.

I think the book was solid after Adventure Comics, then totally de-railed after the Nu52.

I'd like to see Paul have the kind of creative control he seemed to have during the 80s.

I just re-read this issue, and I can see why people are down on it.

The book lacks the swagger it had during the first few issues. The dialogue is good, but not great. And the art is too soft for a...

I'm not sold on the new costume. It looks thrown together. It might look better all black, with the chest symbol they chose.
