My DCNU Part the Third Reviews (mostly spoiler free)

Some releases from last week sneaked in, so this will be my biggest week. Let's get started.

Suicide Squad: Picked this up because of the good word of mouth from these forums. I have to admit I expected this to be better. It was definitely good. Nice mix of villains here. Deadshot was the man we know and love. Harley felt a little more like the Quinn from the Arkham Asylum game but still worked. El Diablo is interesting. Opening scene got my attention. I should have liked this more but it just sort of felt average and I got more out of the Ostrander's Squad and Gail's Six. Also art wise I wasn't very into it.

My DCnU reviews Part the Second! (fairly spoiler free)

I clicky the picture, I buyee the comic.

Grifter:Completely unsatisfied. The plot was all built up, it set the stage pretty perfectly but I just had a big feeling of "meh" all though out. I really wanted to like this too. CAFU did a bang-up job on the pencils however, I just wish a stronger script supported it. 2 out of 5

My DCnU reviews! (fairly spoiler free)

I think I'm hooked on digital, just bought without leaving my home:

Animal Man#1: Buddy is still the family man we know and love. The conversations are natural and could be lifted out of a family drama (who's husband/father is a super-hero). Some explanation of the Red and a call to help at a hospital hostage situation let's us see how Animal Man's powers work. After that the book turns itself on its head and you may think you are back in Vertigo land. Just wow. Instantly Jeff Lemire sets up a YOU MUST READ THE NEXT ISSUE situation. Fantastic art too especially in the 2nd half. Travel Foreman does creepy really well. 5 out of 5 (I love how Buddy and Ellen are written)

Why I'm digging the DCnU so far.

27 years here! 27 comic loving years. A little less when it comes to DC since I started as a Marvel Zombie. It was the Bwa-ha-ha League that made me a DC fan for ever after (got my feet wet with COIE). Comics come and go. My tastes change from one year to the next. I was down to 5 titles before the New 52 announcement. The DCnU has me more excited then I have been in a long, long time. Can I go with the flow? Most definitely, it's just comics!
